Fan Noise !!!

Guys

I just got my first Porsche a 911 C4 TIP (1999) - Jay Jay will be aware of this. As it is my first porsche I have no bench mark but the heat and vent fan appears to be quite noticable over and above the normal blowing of air sound. This almost like a noise which is similar to that of a leaf being stuck be not as loud. My BMW fan was silent except for air noise pretty much.

I would be grateful if anyone could comment on this especially the 996 boys.

Other than that, particularly Jay Jay and Sarbs, the motor is truley awesome, never driven anything as fast. The accelaration is truely frightening, with so much traction even on greasey road. My previous BMW 528 would have been fighting for long before the C4 even think about loosing traction.

Regards

John

Welcome to one of the little quirks of Porsche ownership ! The fans on my '89 3.2 sound like a Jumbo taking off, so if that's anything to go by then I should think yours it totally normal !

Johnny, Glad you've got your car now, I really dont have a clue about the fan noise but if your not happy with it take it straight back and get the specialist to check it, you've paid your money!

jamie

mine used to sound like a jumbo setting off until the other day when when it crashed!

no blow at all now, i guess the bearings have packed up or the fuse has gone (or both).

might be an idea to have a look at it before yours goes the same way. not sure whether there's any lubrication points but i'll be finding out this weekend.

regards

steve
