My passenger side has grippy discs in the floor, although there is nothing actually on the mat underside for them to grip on to.

More strangely though, my driver side mat has the grippy discs in the mat itself, facing up on the top of the mat (ie facing me) and there is nothing in the floor at all - not even any of the usual holes into which you would expect to insert grippy discs.

Should I be as confused as I am, or am I just missing something obvious??

Passenger side has no Velcro discs, drivers side does, on the underside. Seems a previous owner got their wires crossed...

Quite possibly the Velcro disks have come unstuck on one surface, meaning both are stuck to the mat / carpet (IYSWIM)
