Sale advice on 997.1 GT3

Morning all,

I was hoping for a bit of advice from those that have been in the 997.1 market in the recent past.

As the weather improves I'm going to be putting my car on sale soon to help funding a house move this year (i still have a 996.1 to play with so all fun is not lost from the household!).

The car is a lovely spec, with carbon buckets, all the carbon trim, Nav, cruise, dimming mirrors etc and 23k miles on the clock. Full OPC service history back to day one with all invoices etc.

My query relates to where to sell and why? E.g. private, specialist dealer, OPC?

And how to price it / what to expect based on recent sales/purchases???

Thanks in advance for any advice

I would give Tom @ 911Virgin a bell. You'll get an honest appraisal from one of the good guys and that will help clarify your options.

And worth calling the RPM team who sell lots of GT's cars. Alex or Greg.

I was in the market for about 12 months and got mine from an opc in june 2019 but preferred to buy privately

given the mileage, colour and service history and the fact you have buckets, i would have paid around 70 for that car if i was in the market today

i think the aftermarket decals and wheel colour might put a few people off but they are cosmetic only

a similar car to yours was sold on a sor basis for about 80 last year at th bolers

Firstly thank you for feedback.

I'm in the process of speaking to the garages in question to see what the options/advice might be.

Reference the decals, yes they are just vinyl so can be taken off in a couple of minutes! - i will do that if it's in any way a limiting factor.

I just took a look at the TH Boler one in their back catalogue (they seem to sell a few!) - a good reference point, cheers for that.

Tread carefully with any 'sale or return' arrangements... read the Gmund threads to see why, but there are other examples.

Nice. Quite rare to find a red 997.1 GT3 - is that paint or a wrap? Also what other mods does it have, are the buckets OEM or aftermarket? Looks like a cup front splitter too and the gold wheels aren't standard either. Looks good though :thumb:

Just FYI i understand that the vendor was offered 76k privately but turned it down.

on paper, yours is worth more than the 73k one at RPM owing to the mileage and if it is warranty eligible (that was a must have for me)

not all sor arrangments are bad - lots of examples of good stories as well the horror stories

during my search i spent time speaking with jzm, 911V and would trust them with my business any day

the decals wont make much difference to the serious private buyer but the wheels may be a discussion point

i think its a great example and in guards red with buckets and the low mileage you wont struggle

if it were mine, i would sell it privately in confidence knowing it will be gone within 2 months if priced right

Ha, ok more details!

The car is basically standard. Yes it is guards red L84A through and through, it was a car featured in Total911 issue 45 

I'm the 4th owner and it's got an impeccable service record from day one,
for example it's had 9 services/oil changes. Zero over-rev in any range. I'm actually in touch with all the previous owners.

The wheels were refurbished by Lepsons to the Aurum gold Porsche colour code.

The front splitter is a Porsche cup version but I also have a new standard Porsche one.

I have a centre muffler bypass for a bit more bark but equally have a new Porsche centre muffler in storage.

The spec is lovely:
XGB Carbon dashboard trim
XGC Carbon/alcantara dashboard trim
XGD Carbon/alcantara parking brake handle
XMJ Carbon centre console
XSX Red seat belts
XXF Red tail lights
X69 Carbon door entry guards with logo
025 Black-faced stopwatch
267 Automatically dimmable mirrors
268 Rain sensor
288 Headlamp washer
384 Carrera GT bucket seat, left
385 Carrera GT bucket seat, right
454 Automatic speed control
482 TPM Tyre Pressure Monitoring 433MHz
490 Sound package plus with CD storage
601 Bi-Xenon headlamps
640 Sport Chrono Plus
665 PCM 2 Porsche Communication Management

some picture - forgive the yellow endurance film on the lights this was the summer when I drove to the Le Mans 24 hours

That looks ace, never seen a red one before 8)

Any interior pics? :)

Those retro yellow tints on the headlights work really well!
