Part Number WKD90002096, the 993 Service Books

After a long time waiting, they are now back in stock at your local OPC Parts department, with less than 40 available direct from Germany when I picked mine up this week!

not cheap at £50+v but if like myself you're used ever stamp in your original 993 service book, then this additional is a must to keep the ongoing history in an official 993 service book :thumb:

I take it its stamped "REPLACEMENT"?

It's an additional book, comes with all the content but no stamps.

My original book is full so this is needed to continue the history

I got one back in 2017, although mine was part number "WKD 900 020 97" - and yes it does have "REPLACEMENT" over the sticker page.

Does that matter though if you still have the original anyway?
What I do know is that mine was only £11.58 + vat from OPC Chester. Pricing seems to have taken a serious hike :dont know:

I purchased one of these from my local OPC in June 2019. It cost me £25.00 inc. VAT. I had to wait just over a year for them to do a new print run, but it doesn't have replacement stamped on it.

all these books are stamped with the text REPLACEMENT on the sticker page

The last digits denote the year, so you have a 97 book but a 96 car

the 96 book covers all Carrera and Turbo models for 1996,1997 and 1998

The last ones that I bought didn't have Replacement stamped in them, it was quite a while ago though.

Your local OPC may be able to confirm.

There is a different one for each year!!!

Does it really matter :?:
I have the original book, and it is full. The new book is a means to keep the servicing stamps up to date, and is exactly the same in every way except for the sticker page not having the sticker or the original dealer stamp.

I've just checked my book again. If the Sticker Page you are referring to is Page 4, this text does not appear there or anywhere else in my service book. Not sure why there is any difference, I would have thought that the print run would be the same every time. The Part Number WKD 900 020 98 is also different to yours, which may account for the difference.

Not a big deal, as per your original post, the main thing is that the books are still available.

When I required a further service book I had to wait a year ..... and my local OPC gave it me so didn't cost a penny.. £58 seems well excessive imo.
There is a major difference with the service books for the 993 as the early one is for every model in the Porsche range at the time .... 968 928 and 964 .... yup early 993s came with the service book for the 964 and the second service book arrived using my VIN also came showing for the 964.

So if anyone is in the market for purchasing an early 993 .... if it hasn't the service book showing as 964, then it's not the original service book for that car...... Top tip there if you want originality

Purchase one from Gmund back in 2013 before the corruption.

Think it cost about £14. They basically sold out over the weekend after we all realised they had some.

£50 is a bit of a piss take but then again its cheaper than some of the replacement books that come up on ebay.

Wonder how long the 40 at OPC will last. :?:
