The passenger side window switch on my 997 doesn't always work from the passenger side, but does from the driver side. Also, my Auto up position on the driver side switch doesn't always work.

Can the toggle part of the switch be removed in order to get too and clean the contacts, or do I need to remove the entire door card to be able to fix them?

If I recall correctly then you have to remove the door card and access the switch from the back. It's a few years since I did mine though! Easy enough job. Just beware brittle plastic tabs on the switch housing.

P S Buy some door card clips BEFORE you do this, if you do then you will not break any
