How to change a rear wheel bearing

I had to change one of these as a hub was needed to measure up for some custom brake parts and the bearing was rather wobbly. This is what I did...

Nice work; some proper engineering.

Of course an OPC would tell you need an entirely new hub.....

That's actually not true .. after 10 years at an OPC i can safely say they wouldn't say you needed a new hub ..


They would say you needed a new car sir and here is a salesman .. :D

On a serious note then videos like this are a god send to people wanting to do this at home :worship:


ref the bearing race stuck on the flange .. you can put it in a vice , use a 3 inch cutting disc and cut away the majority of the race , a sharp smack with a hammer / chisel and it will snap and can be easily removed.

Just an alternative if you don't have a puller set with small jaws to grab the race .
