Hi all,
As per the above question does such a thing as a diagram showing where the drains are situated exist? if not where are the common ones and whats the best way to clear them (coat hanger, welding wire etc...).
My car (Gen 1 coupe with sunroof) was garaged by the previous owner for 7 years, but it now lives on my driveway, and whilst I try to keep it under a cover as much as I can, I don't put a cover on a car after I've dirtied it driving, so it does sit in the rain. This has already shown up a leaky drivers door inner seal (which I have fixed) but I am conscious that there is probably debris in all the drains from it being garaged for such a long time and I would like to make sure they are all clear.
Might be nice to get all the info together in a sticky post?
To try and answer my own question, I've scanned through all the listing of 'drain' in the part manual for Gen 1 cars and have highlighted them in images below (i didn't bother with the air con one as this doesn't relate to rainwater).
There has to be more than this though as I know there is a drain on the doors, but it isn't listed on the parts list as a drain (have added a photo though).. _________________ My 997.1 C2 ownership thread: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=134228

Have just checked the Gen 2 parts manual and there is only 1 extra drain listed in the Gen 2 manual over the Gen 1 cars and that's for the speedster _________________ My 997.1 C2 ownership thread: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=134228

Have done a bit of searching on here and found the following for a 996 which is hopefully also of use on a 997. Thanks to 'plavix' for posting this

Okay, this one might be easier as it's one diagram for the 996 Coupe:
1 - Water drainage: sliding roof, rear
2 - Water drainage: sliding roof, front
3 - Water drainage: tank tray
4 - Water drainage: evaporator of heating and air-conditioning system
5 - Water drainage: radiator tank
Ok...open up your front hood.
Next to the battery compartments, on both left and right sides there are plastic covers just like the one for the battery compartment.
Under those plastic covers are where the left and right "wells" are.
There is a drainage with a rubber flap on each well, kinda similar to your kitchen sink garbage disposal hole.
Stick your finger in them to check if they are clogged.
These also look useful thanks to 'GT4' for posting:

Very common problem (especially if the car lives outside or is used in the rain, road debris gets washed down the drain holes and blocks them, then the next time it rains the drain holes overflow and water gets in the car).
Tricky finding the location of the 4 drains that live around the battery tray area, and only 1 location is shown on the parts manual, but found a pic posted by user 'snoo snoo' which is helpful and the embedded youtube video is also very helpful
this is a handy image of gen 2 997 coupe drain locations::
The water drains -1-and -2- can be found on both sides of the vehicle (only vehicles with sliding roof).
1 - Water drain: rear of sliding roof
2 - Water drain: front of sliding roof
3 - Water drain: tank tray
4 - Water drain: plenum panel 5 - Water drain: plenum panel (vehicles without luggage compartment ventilation) _________________ My 997.1 C2 ownership thread: http://911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=134228
