Long story short, some time ago (months) my car develop problem with warm/hot engine start, sometimes was ok sometimes NOT it was look like weak battery. I took my Porsche on holiday fantastic ride... but the problem began to appear more often and just before my planed trip back to UK it turned out that it was the engine's fault to be more precise-engine on my car decide to seized.

At fault crankshaft bearings.

I have been told 100K miles and everything above is just luck.

NOT A FUN

Luckily for my wallet I manage to find a Porsche/BMW M-Power magician who repairs and improves these engines. Overall cost of rebuild with night out in Krakow £4000, NEW-nikasil cylinder liners, pistons+audi rings (apparently better material), crankshaft bearings I haven't been told exactly but also better material has been used.

New liners and pistons i can see .. it's the price you paid ..

My god .. well done if that was the in out plus repair cost !!

Polish labour rates?

Yes all in, it was cheaper and no warranty if I only send out engine, so I drop my car at garage Saturday morning and collect it on Saturday evening next week 1 year warranty on engine, overall I'm happy with price time and service from garage  also Krakow Is amazing city.

edit.

forgot to tell - as a surprise engine 116K miles and no bore scoring

Mine did this on Sunday, Stalled it whilst trying to manoeuvre in a car park and doing 3 things at once ! Went to turn it over and it sounded like it was being dragged through the bowels of a ship daubed in treacle, 3rd time it caught, but it was laboured ! Very laboured ! And sounded metalicky and grated...

If that hasn't got you using your imagination nothing will,

Any way, maybe I should stop thinking Bore scoring and start anticipating crank shaft bearing collapse 😩

I can say ..

The engine cases have been professionally shot blasted and painted ..

You have new liners that look the same as any new ones that have been replaced that i have ever seen ..

You have new pistons ..

crank i can't say but from the pictures then it seems a very professional job ..

Quite frankly i'm amazed at the cost of all this work and a weeks turn around ..

You won't get that in this country .. not even close .

I feel a mention of the firm's name is in order ..

I don't come here to represent where i work but to help out .. and this garage is certainly doing that .

IMHO of course :)

EDIT ..

Crank bearing seizure and a slow start is a little bit rare so not something to start thinking you have definitely got and worry over .

OK Dr, thanks 🙏

Same time next month ? Maybe something wheel bearing related ?

Oooooh ooooooh ! Just remembered I got shot by a stone in the NS condenser on Sun
👹

Car started making a terrible whining whirring sound, any way,,,, at risk of derailing this post and the excellent work carried out within !!!!
Maybe we could all start using this place ??

Come again ????

I e started a separate thread, condenser has hole in it !

That's impressive work and even more impressive cost.
That'll be 3x more here.

It'd be worth trailering a car over there and back.

I'll tell you what .. get two other people that agree with you and don't want me to answer any more questions on this site and i'll happily spend the 16 hours per week doing something else instead of trying to help out here .

Challenge set .

I have no idea what that post meant either deMort, maybe C4Silver would care to clarify for us all :?:

What's that supposed to mean ? Who said they didn't want you to answer any more questions on this site ? I certainly didn't ?
