Any initial checks to do around front suspension, sounds fairly common. My clonks a bit. On service its had top mounts and shocks and drop links last year by previous owner.

Find a bumpy road .. drive over it .. if you hear a bonk .. bonk bonk ... bonk then it will be the diagonal arms .. try to listen if its more front or rear as there are x4 on the car and all four are not that cheap to replace .

a sound clip of said noise also helps Smile

As an armchair diagnostic specialist I would say either of the above.

They went on the front end of my 996 gen 2 and on the rear on my 997 gen 2.

Same story more noticeable over small road imperfections and at low speed otherwise no noises and all good.

Problem is difficult to diagnose which of those two are the offender.

However, there are very good pattern parts available with different type bushes and keeping your old parts you can have them re-bushed and sell them on if you wish.

Not too expensive to do and most reputable garages can do it.

Had the rear of my 997.2 done less than 3 months ago and great that the light knocks all gone. I can listen for other noises now!!

Regards
Glen

Borrow some wireless chassis ears and take out the guesswork.

What are people using for Coffin arms, I’ve read recently that they are in short supply as there has been some market take overs and manufacturing problems,

I’d like to replace with Pollybushes if they are available off the shelf or are these fit yourself item ?

Ragpicker used those bushes on his diagonal arms .. tuning forks .. it snapped on one side.

Cant say about coffin arms but it kinda shocked me that an off the shelf part could cause that .. it's in his Boxster thread page 7

Justa had a look and as i am finding it looks like the standard Porsche Items are indeed the best options to go with.
