Liquid Underneath Front Drivers Side

So I've taken my new to me 996 on its first road trip to the West Country this week after the second day of some fairly fast driving upon pulling over noticed a small damp patch under the car.

Air Con is performing beautifully and the temp gauge on the dash seems to hover around 80 all day after a spirited work out. There's no warning lights showing on the dash.

After pulling up at the hotel for the night I noticed the patch was a bit bigger so looked under the car and it appeared to me to be dripping off the front right hand side suspension.

Any suggestions on causes, what to check etc...I need to get the car back to London tomorrow so that would mean a 3/4 hour drive so just want to make sure I'm not going to cause any serious damage.

Check your power steering fluid. - When the lines on the rack begin to fail you can get fluid dropping in the area you mention.

I'm hoping for you that it's just the air-con evaporator doing its job.

If it's not then I'd seriously advise against driving the car any further without getting it checked out. If it's a coolant leak you run the risk of boiling your engine. If it's anything else it could be dangerous.

Good Luck

I should also add that there are also coolant & brake fluid lines in that area.

If your able to determine the colour / consistency of the fluid it would help.

It may be nothing, it may be the start of something, good luck.

Any good Indy's to take it to near Barnstaple?

This was my first thought, I had the same a couple of years a go on a hot day in Croatia, it looked like a coolant leak as there was so much water on the floor, after I panicked I then deduced it was just the A/C dripping condensed water from the pipework.

Yes, pictures and an explanation of the liquid and I guess we can diagnose between us before your trip back.

So took the car to the brilliant Martin Reed Porsche specialist in Barnstaple, he looked the car over and found a small leak in the power steering just on the end of the rack on the drivers side. It's something that's going to need attention but after topping the levels up I kept an eye on them at each stop on the way back to London and the level seems to have remained the same.

He also checked the coolant level which just needed a small water bottle amount of topping up.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice it was much appreciated and I'm really pleased that the car made it back home to London with no further signs of trouble.
