Radiator fan

Hi all,

I would be grateful for advice. I have a 996 C2 1998 which I bought recently. The passenger side radiator fan has never functioned and having had a fiddle with fuses, swapping relays around and jumping the high speed relay I can't get the fan to turn on at all. The car gets quite hot in traffic (was very hot day but have seen 108 on the digital display!).

So looks like I need to change the whole fan rather than just the resistor as I was hoping.

Anyone any advice where to get it - is it best from a Porsche dealer?

Porsche shop have this one:

There are youtube videos on replacing them so keen to give it a go myself...

Kind regards,

Miles

I've just done the same on my 4s, and was too hoping for it to be the resistor, but unfortunately not.

Assuming it is the fan, (I removed mine and tested it on the battery... would only run with a helping hand to start) as much as I'm loathed to say it due to the 3 week run around they gave me, I'd suggest car parts for less/Euro car parts.

If they have it in stock, potentially a £50 or so saving to be had on the Porsche shop price.

I managed mine without removing the front bumper, although in hindsight, it would be good to remove it so as you can access to remove and debris in rads etc.

A good opportunity to clean up behind wheel well liners too.

Count yourself lucky it's not a 4s, cheapest I could get the fan was £350!

Thanks have ordered from Eurocarparts approx £100 - as you sort of predicted though they have messed up delivery. Not arrived - "sorry sir can't tell you when is being delivered or if has been picked up" ad infinitum...

Ah well will get on with replacing the AC condensors...wish me luck!
