996 TT exhaust removal - crusty nuts

Next step of my saga is to remove the exhaust so I can start to remove the turbos. The nuts on the exhaust are almost non existent so I can tell it's going to be a riot getting them out. Due to the cats it doesn't look like I can get a socket on them and I'm pretty convinced a spanner isn't going to cut it.

So I'm looking for suggestions? I spoke to a chap on Instagram and he swore by using a nut splitter, not a tool I've ever used so I'd be looking for brand and size recommendations.

Fire it all at me please.

I had the same issue.
The nuts were 13mm across some flats and 10mm across others.

I went with a Draper induction heating tool. https://www.drapertools.com/product/80808/Induction-Heating-Tool-Kit-(1-75kW)
Not cheap and it took a few attempts but finally the nuts glow red and undo easily after that.

Someone later suggested to me the Irwin Nut removers https://www.toolstation.com/irwin-b...MIg7juw6i64wIVS7TtCh10Ww2gEAQYASABEgIzF_D_BwE
I bought some but have yet to try them on anything as challenging as those turbo nuts.

If you're anywhere near me, GU52, you're welcome to try the Irwins.

I'm currently having my mufflers swapped out on my 996. They're original and everything is knackered. My mobile specialist was using those nut removal sockets. He said they were very good.
 
I did this job on mine quite a few years ago now, the method I used which worked really well was to grind down one side of the nut until it was almost down to the stud then split it using a sharp chisel.

Not only did this get the nut off but it also removed all traces of the nut from the threads of the studs with out damaging then and I was able to reuse the studs.
