Go to JZM

Much more qualified to service an older Porsche

OPC Brookland (or Byfleet) know their aircooled's - that's where I've taken my turbo for servicing for the past few years. They do a fixed price service and allow you to bring your own oil if you want to save a few pennies. Presume it's a bit further away for you, but Brooklands Museum and Mercedes World is a short walk away so you could make a day of it.

How much was the fixed price servicing at Brooklands by the way? I've had wildly different quotes from Reading (VERY expensive, wouldn't go there!) and Swindon (competitive, went last year).

the car has had 20 years of OPC history so for a minor or major service I’m just going to take it back to OPC

It’s odd how servicing cost can be very different when parts and labor and hours should be standard across the country?

Last Dec my bill was under £500 for the standard 12k miles service (OK, so I think that was actually £498) by supplying my own approved oil.

Hatfield quieted £810 for a minor service inclusive of oil.

That sounds very expensive to me?

oh and they said my earliest booking was mid September

so far it’s a pretty terrible review

what was the price at Swindon? Given it’s a classic partner I might just go to try them out

Reading is owned directly by Porsche; many other OPC's are independent and are not tied to central pricing.

Any future buyer isn't going to care as long as its gone to a well known specialist. I think this is especially true of the older cars where its probably seen as a positive.

OPC Reading had been servicing my car for the previous owner and quite clearly never touched the gearbox oil in the 10 years they had been looking after it.

Have to agree with Nick. I'd personally rather see a good specialist stamp in the service book over an OPC one.
I'd wager that there aren't many OPC's with air-cooled specialists on the books and that most older cars going in for service are done by the new breed of plug-in tech's that just follow service bulletin instructions...

Find yourself a good specialist and start building a relationship. Thumb

C.
