OPC Servicing on a 2005 Carerra S

My car is due a service in July and I am after some opinions on wether to take it to my local OPC (it has full OPC history from another dealer) or break the cycle and start taking it to an independent.

I also have a 2012 Cayenne which always goes to my local dealer but a lot of that is to do with its extended warranty. I don't feel I get a remarkable customer service from my local OPC so to be honest it's more regarding its resale value if/when I decide to part ways with it.

Car is a very clean car with approx 72k on it and just had an engine out overhaul at Porsche Reading (all belts, water pump, water hoses, clutch).

I bought my 2005 C2S last year with around 25k on the clock. Had a full OPC history and I chose to take it to Northway Porsche Specialists since I trust an specialist more than I do an OPC to look after the car. Can't see it hurting the residuals on a car of that age any more than the savings I'd make over the ownership of the car by breaking the OPC history.

I guess a balanced view point would be that to some buyers an OPC service history is more desirable, but when I look for a car I'm only ever looking at condition and making sure the owners have kept to the schedule.

In short it's your choice, but my view would be not to get too concerned about it and go with who you trust more to look after the car and where you get the best service

When i was at an OPC i once asked the used car sales manager what difference a non OPC service stamp made when it comes to resale ..

He straight up said .. i would offer them £500 less .. that's it ..

Non Porsche service history to an OPC doesn't make a lot of difference .. why .. they will do a service anyway to get it back into spec on the history .

Exactly this. It is £500 difference which is the cost to put on a major service.

There are to give balance a small group of Porsche buyers who only buy with full Porsche history.

Unless you have a rare old Porsche that has full Porsche history that would in some cases increase the value of the Porsche, then the £500 applies.

Whilst I own an indy, I also own many Porsches, even prior to 9e, and my opinion is the same now.

The only time I say otherwise is that it is worth getting the first 2 year service done at the OPC because of there are updates/recalls you get them done.
