I agree with the general consensus which seems to be saying big butts rule.
Definitely 964T or 993 S models are the winners for looks. Ironic that most people’s favourite looking 911 ever probably isn’t their favourite driving 911 ever, but I’m a firm believer that a car should make you smile a little when you just pop your head in the garage for a quick peak.
The dynamics are important but if it doesn’t excite you before you even get in, then you’ve bought the wrong car.
I’ll wheel out the same old pic of my 964T. I wish I’d take more pics back then.

..I was booking my car into Williams Crawford this morning and as I was stood outside of the workshop I watched a black 964 Turbo pull of the ramp , drive past and up the road...looked and sounded fantastic...
They also had a 1973 RS Touring in the reception area that is off to Hong Kong ...a cool £750,000!
They have some serious Pork for sale ...

Modern GT cars are the best cars, and the cars I’d want to own, but they are not the best looking.
I’ve seen that Martini GT2 RS on the M40 a couple of times and it is lovely. Must be clocking up some miles!
996, not even going to bother...
Looks like the 964 Turbo has it _________________ Current: 997.1 Turbo, Coupe, Manual

Only thing better would be if it was in racing Best sounding 911 ever? Probably best looking? yep in a non pretty, macho way
Modern 911’s are boys, modern GT ones are the hard kids, and the air cooled 911, are girls simples. _________________ 991 C2S PDK - X51 430 powerkit, Carbon GT2 folding buckets, PCCB, PDCC, PSE, Carrera S alloys, Sports design bodykit with ducktail and Alcantara steering wheel. Certainly up there? I'd say it's the best looking 911 ever! It's looks the absolute bomb!
I thought this thread title might bring out all the sandal wearing chin strokers to procrastinate and go back over the last 50 years, but to me the new stuff is lovely. _________________ 2012 997.2 Turbo Basalt Black. Bit of a 9E ing.

I'm going to have to dig up some picturres from last years trackdays, but the best looking 911 is the 996 GT3 from the side or rear, with that funky folded over wing and body kit, especially if set up for the track with lots of camber and slightly tatty looking. It needs to look driven.
I don't know why, usually I'd say you need a wide body without a wing. _________________ 997.2 Carrera4S: white over blue, driven and tracked, seldom clean.

1. 964 RS - edit

When I read "996 is ugly" please take a look on turbo line-up only one car looks like cheap Chinese/Korean reproduction/copy...… I can only take 996 is ugly from 964/993 owners _________________ 2003 Porsche 911 996 c4s
