Trip of a lifetime is an oft used phrase, but for me anyway, this tops pretty well anything I have heard that expression used for. Very jealous. Enjoy the last few days. Memories for life.
Thanks for sharing, it’s a great read.
Oh and I don’t believe that you are less than 5ft tall btw
Certainly is a one off/once in a lifetime thing. Feel very lucky I've been able to do it.

I have to agree, but I reckon Renee might be.
I'm much taller, even without heels thumb:

Beautiful pictures Ant, loving the blog. Very jel of your visit to Palm Springs, I have a bit thing for mid century and want to visit, enjoy.
If you love mid-century architecture then you have to go. I love those houses and would move there in a heartbeat given a chance.

Just popped into the 993 forum and having a quick read of this thread. Blimey! Have you had much appreciation for the ol’ 993 over the pond? Have you spotted any others?! The pics are gorgeous; neat idea to bring along a drone _________________ Atlas Grau on Ocean Blue Gen 2 997 C2 Carrera

I cant believe you went to Slab city in a 993.. wow What did people think??
crazy place, seen lots of documentaries.
I'm not sure? It was full of people from China and Korea Instagramming. I didn't speak to any of the Slabbers. The thing with the 993 is it looks valuable to some, and to others an old Porsche that probably cost $5k so it may have gone under the radar _________________ www.aircooledbug.co.uk

really enjoying your blog & this thread Hope you don't mind but ive posted the link up on ddk as we all love road trips _________________ James
I am not in the slightest bit envious, seems my parents forgot to add the envy stuff when they made me..... BUT... boy I am HUGELY appreciative of your efforts to share your truly wonderful trip with us, and with such superb images too...just astounding. Thanks so much tyinsky,
My wife and I did a few road trips some time back in our old open topped sports car driving through France and Spain top to bottom and almost the same in Italy using m/ways on the outward leg, and back roads on the homeward leg, created lots of memories in the process...(-: Too old and stiff for that kind of adventure in our old car now, thinking if I replaced it with a Porsche, if perhaps we could have one more trip in us... (-: However for some reason it seems to be rather difficult to get round to actually advertising the old thing in order to replace it with a more sensible Porsche...hmm? Typing of the car and not my dear lady wife..!!
tyinsky, for me you seem to be made of the right stuff to take on an adventure, breakdowns and all... We shredded a fan belt chasing a 930 Turbo in France ( I carried spares) and suffered a fuel leak, which was perhaps more obvious than yours as the engine is out front and the fuel made it`s self evident by appearing through the bonnet louvres, fortunately a bit of rubber tubing (from the spares) resolved the issue temporarily.
Yeah, you only live once for sure and you seem to be making best use of the time available Tyinsky, and no doubt creating wonderful memories in your Porsche, and in the process receiving RETURNS on your investment well in excess of anything financial...

The only corkscrew I'll be seeing on this trip will be to open bottles of Californian wine.

Thank you. And no, I don't mind at all, it is there to be read – stick it wherever you like, copy the pictures, whatever.

Nice to read that. You're still driving, so you still have road trips left in you. Take a few cushions and get on with it! _________________ www.aircooledbug.co.uk

My only experience of Arizona was Lake Havasu for memorial day, that was just as eye opening as your trip to the graveyard - but for very different reasons
Like you, Palm Springs was a highlight for me when I lived there back in the mid 80s, to be baking hot in a dusty desert-like place one minute, yet a few minutes later stood in snow at the top of the aerial tramway, that's something I'll never forget. What a place...
You are doing the forum proud with these blogs, keep it up old chap. Only a tiny bit jealous

tyinsky, great thread and a great trip!
Have you got an itinerary/route up on your blog? I couldn't find it if you have. Reason I ask is if you are driving down the west coast of Florida there is a world class car collection in Naples that is definitely one not to miss, The Collier Collection. It is a stunning collection that includes many Porsche cars.
