I'm obsessing over signal yellow ATM, that would look great on a 993

Love to see a Rubystone Red 993. Closest ive ever seen was a 993 vert with an awful matching interior in what could have been RR

1995 Porsche 993 Carrera 4

Some pretty iconic paint names mentioned thus far!

Indeed the chosen colour has been stated in the thread. By someone who I'm 99.99% certain has seen parts of the fresh paint already. Yes it clearly won't be for everyone; yes purists will shudder at the thought of new paint not being shot in every corner; yes purists may be disgusted the whole car wasn't taken back to bare metal (although the wings were, for example), and that's fine... hence the warning at the start of the thread!

Another hint: I am aware of/have seen at least five 993s that left the factory in this colour, as it was available via PTS. Those five cover GT/RS/Turbo/Carrera spec cars. So it will remain in keeping with the period of production... not that originality will be of any relevance once completed!

Sounds an exciting project, and I applaud you for building ‘your’ car. Any plans for the interior?

Thank you. Regarding the interior, the car had benefited from a re-trim in 2009 and I'm very happy with it for the foreseeable future. Some photos here: 1 --- 2 --- 3 --- 4 --- 5 --- 6 --- 7.

ch3tman. I have a set of 993 big bolster sports seats that would look great in your car. Cool

You own it, you do what you want with it. If you want a specific PTS colour on a 993 the way you're doing it is pretty much the only way to guarantee getting one.

Way to go on colour... I've said it for a while now, we need more 993 hot rods and thinking outside the box builds. I'm going two tone with my own 993 this year. Surprised

Looking forward to seeing the end result.

This two-tone 993 was seen around here last summer... Looks like a taxi!

That's before the stickers went on. Top half wrap. Looked better than I expected in that state. still all on but coming off sometime this summer (after LM, FOS, Silverstone Classic, etc). Then it'll probably join the queue for a respray...if only I knew who to trust with the task.

Here are a few 993s wearing the chosen colour of BlutOrange / Blood Orange / Tangerine.

(there was a subtle hint on the first line, of the first post, on the first page).

GT2 - a car I had the pleasure of seeing first hand in 2014 per these pics: 1 --- 2 --- 3
RS CS - 1
RUF BTR2 - 12
C2S - 1 --- 2

After long deliberating the addition of aero (Aero kit or RS kit) I decided to keep the clean lines of the body as is, aknowledging the Supercup cars pulled the look off pretty well: 1 --- 23.

The last time I saw the car, as I waved goodbye…

Calliper colour is TBC. Likely black; body colour may be OTT.

Last month and some of this month involved the strip down, repairs and prep. Plenty of photos so far (~40), but here are a few...

Rust treatment/repairs are in scope where deemed required, chassis legs included. The car had separate work carried out in the last ~10years to address the scuttle so no repair effort required in these 'typical' areas.

Items like the bumper supports beyond salvageable and so replaced.

It had been observed before, but here we can see my exhausts once upon a time had the bypass pipe only to be sealed up!

Primer stage in progress....

Quite disconcerting to see your own pride and joy in such states Surprised
...really hammers home it's real and happening Laughing.

More exciting pics next...

I like this thread thumbsup

Did the primer go over the existing paint or did the existing paint get removed first?
