Wheel well liner mod worth doing?

I know I'm going to have to take the front bumper off and clean out the radiators and investigate the buzzing noise from one of the fans (probably leaf litter) whilst in there is it worth doing the wheel well liner modification in the 101 projects book?

I can see what the benefits are but are there any unmentioned drawbacks?
