Josh Webster (Team Parker Racing) claimed a spectacular pole position on his return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the former Porsche GB Scholar and 2014 Carrera Cup GB champion triumphed in challenging wet conditions at Donington Park. Reigning Rookie champion and 2019 race winner, George Gamble (Amigos Redline Racing), will start Round Three of the championship on the front row of the grid having set a time just 0.003s slower than Webster. Lewis Plato (Motorbase Performance) will line-up third on the second row of the grid alongside 18-year-old Porsche GB 2018 / 2019 Junior and current championship leader Dan Harper (JTR).
Difficult driving conditions during the 30-minute qualifying session saw a drying line gradually form on the damp track, however all 16 drivers chose to remain on grooved wet weather tyres throughout. In the latter stages of the session Webster, Gamble, Plato and Harper all traded fastest overall lap times. Having missed Thursday's practice sessions Webster's best time was set on only the 12th lap in his new 'Type 991' Porsche Carrera Cup car – delivered to the Leicestershire circuit just the day before.
Pro-Am category race winner Karl Leonard (Team Parker Racing) beat Rookie Jack McCarthy (Redline Racing) to a category pole position, Leonard finished the session just 0.093s ahead of the newcomer. Jamie Orton (JTR) will start third in category on row five, directly behind Pro-Am championship leader Leonard. Justin Sherwood (Team Parker Racing) was the quickest Am category qualifier, he starts ahead of rivals John Ferguson (Redline Racing) and Peter Kyle-Henney (IN2 Racing).
Following the 2019 Carrera Cup GB race format, Webster has already earned two championship points with his pole position, as the top qualifiers in their respective categories – Leonard and Sherwood – also receive two points each. The grid for tomorrow's second race will be decided immediately following race one. The overall winner will draw a number between four and six at random, deciding whether the first four, five or six competitors will have their grid positions reversed. The remaining drivers will form the grid for race two according to their finishing positions in race one, any driver who records a DNF in race one will start race two behind the last finisher in their category.

Round Four will take place at 13:35 tomorrow, Sunday 28 April, with live coverage on ITV4. Both races feature a standing start and are scheduled to last for a duration of 23 laps. Having missed the opening weekend of the championship, returnee Josh Webster will want to make a flying start to his 2019 campaign. The 2014 Carrera Cup GB champion will be a force to be reckoned with for the other front runners, having competed for two full seasons in the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup as well as remaining a regular visitor to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB paddock.
