Huming or roaring noise in aircon

Has anyone experienced a roaring noise developing when the a/c compressor is on? On a 997.1, at the last service Porsche dealer said not to worry. The belt was changed recently. Still, there was no such noise when the car was new.

Any experience here please? Thanks. P
 
Have a look here as the 996 and 997 are similar systems ..

Try turning on and off the a/c as listed .. if nothing obvious then a sound clip is useful for us to locate noises .
 
Thanks for the very detailed and useful info on the link. I guess I'm low on gas and after a refill last year that means a leak.. :(. Cheers.
