Hi,
First time posting here but I hope you can help please. I have what I believe to be an exorbitant garage bill and would like some opinions please.
I have a lovely three-gauge 1965 Porsche 912. I had an engine rebuild a few years back and have done v little mileage since. In a bid to get on with restoration after some poor running I took her to a new mechanic - I was forced to find a new mechanic due to illness of previous. I understood and confirmed with previous mechanic that it was time for new carbs. Sourced new carbs, with correct jets and float settings exactly for 912 from Delorto. I requested only that the new carbs be installed and setup. I have now been presented with a bill for £2.5k for, what to my mind, seems like simple, straightforward work. The mechanic claims it has taken 30 hours.
Does this not seem grossly excessive? I've never faced this before and feel I've made a massive error in going to this guy. Any advice appreciated. Cheers.
