964 Clock stopped working

Most of the time my car is stored with the battery disconnected, but last time I used the car the clock would not function. I checked fuse(s) and they ok and have searched the web and most posts describe fixing the warning lights within the clock face - mine were functioning fine. Any thoughts anyone? Also how to remove the rubber retaining seal between the clock bezel and dash? Thank you.
