Dick Lovett Cylinder Club Invitational Event

When: Sunday April 14th 2019 - 9am - 12.30pm.
Where: Dick Lovett Porsche, Frankland Road, Swindon, SN5 8YW.

Just received an email invite: It's a bit of a trek for us from Staffordshire (120 miles) but health permitting I plan on being there: This will be our first visit but looking at past events there seem to be some nice Porsches and other sports/supercars attending.

Youtube video of the event last Summer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnqzxaaVytc

Cylinder Club reserved parking is only available for 100 cars - You can apply here: https://www.cylinderclub.co.uk/book-place

So will anyone else from 911UK be going?

Looks good and would be quite a nice drive from me. But clicked on your link and it seems you have to be invited.

Presumably best call them first if keen but have no email. Sad

It is invite only....it’s a dealer event and they had a few issues with non-invitees driving like knobs at the first one when refused entry unfortunately. Hence why they only run a few per year and invite only I guess. Shame as they are really approachable as a dealer. Thumb

Can anyone come and have a look if they’re not on the list?

If so, is there anywhere to park nearby?

Hi Y2K, strictly speaking it's an invitational 'closed event' for Dick Lovett and only open to people who have registered with them first because, as G2 said earlier, they've had some problems with people just turning up in the past and driving like muppets.

The dealerships are all on a trading estate near Swindon, so parking is limited and there are double yellows all around.

I've been in touch with Group Marketing at Dick Lovett this afternoon and although the April event is now heavily subscribed (137 cars instead of the 100 planned), they are happy for a few more people to come along, to see what it's all, provided they register before coming, so they'll receive the official welcome pack and more importantly an entry sticker.

If you're interested in attending just follow the link below and enter your details:

That's a pity Wh1t3Kn1ght - it does seem heavily subscribed tho', places go quickly after the announcement and I guess with limited parking there are only so many cars they can accommodate.

You could give Tom Newton a call at Group Mktg to be 100% - I think he's based at Porsche Bristol.

If not there's no space this time then hopefully you can get in at the one in the Summer Thumb

"You want the pics? You can't handle the pics" Laughing Laughing

Well, the Cylinder Club 'Spring Classic' (our first) was a really good morning with lots to see - a fantastic turnout of Porsche, Ferrari, Aston and other interesting and rare cars - I'd estimate about 140 - 150 cars, as some were even parked in the staff/storage parking area, behind the dealerships.

The meet was due to kick off at 9a.m but most folks seemed to have already arrived by 9, or just after.

Free coffee/tea and breakfast rolls were served in the massive Ferrari workshops - one of the largest in Europe - which was interesting to wander round in of itself.

There were a couple of new Aston Martin Zagatos - not my cuppa personally.

In the Porsche centre there were spanking new 992s, as well as some nicely restored classics, as Porsche Swindon are one of only a few approved Porsche Classic restoration centres in the UK.

The event was well managed and staff at Porsche and Ferrari were friendly and helpful - not having to pay for coffee/rolls was a nice touch too.

Now, are you ready for this???

Nice one! Didn't get to see you but you got a picture of me and my mate Dan talking next to my 996 Floor

Here are some of my pictures, I must confess though I did spend some considerable time over at the Ferrari dealership drooling over the F40, Testarossa and the 488's.

We couldn't work out how to get upstairs and looking at the pictures there was some amazing cars up on the 1st floor.

Met up with my mate Dan in Moreton-in-the-Marsh at 8am - the roads were quiet and we had a terrific drive through the cotswolds on some awesome twisty roads! Just what my 996 needed as it hasn't stretched it's legs really that much yet.

Something close to my heart and the only front engine old timer Porsche at the event -
