I was just browseing old photos and thought you lot might like to see some of them .

You can use anything you like but this was a recent pipe replacement which turned into front to rear pipes and i did my best to cover everything .

Right mouse click on any photo then select view image .. you will get a larger picture .

To be fair .. i have sat here looking at these and not only did i do the job i took the photos !

There is just something about a good picture of these cars that still facinates me .. i love looking at the forum picts .. i can tell a lot from a picture :D

I digress though ..

There is no set problem with 997 pipes .. its all down to the conditions it has been used over its life .

if used in winter on wet roads with gitted salt for the winter then it will corrode metal ..

If used near the coast or you live near the coast then salt air ..

Most common fault i see .. front crossover pipes .. many threads on here about it so ill not go into detail but thats got to be the main one .

Not so common is a/c pipes and mainly in the clamps rotting through .. well pin holes to be fair ... its a tiny black round mark .. you start pokeing it and a white dust will come out .. it will go all the way through the pipe .. a very slow leak but a leak none the less .

Engine pipes .. again not so common but as with the one above .. i started at the front and ended up dropping the engine as i kept finding more and more problems .

The reason .. if you have a leak then the system wont pressurise that much , it will to a degree but not fully .. you fix one leak then find another .

Too be fair though most of us can spot the tell tail signs of a coolant leak .. your looking for a pink crystalty residue .. Not damp .. but chalky to the feel ... mind you if its pink and damp then its a pretty obvious leak !

For a/c then you are looking for oil residue around any of the pipes .

Hence i always say .. as per the title .. cover them in something .. it Will save you money .
