Cup shift cables on Carrera?

I think I might change the shift cables on my C4 as the ends in particular are looking really scruffy. If I'm changing I'm looking at upgrading. I believe that the 996 Cup cables are a direct fit replacement. Can anybody confirm this?

I looked at doing the same but could not find a definitive answer.
