Hi all I have a 996.1 c2 just come back from a
New year visit to friends in Yorkshire we did over 300 miles and the 3.4
Didn't explode so all good 😃
Coming of the motor way slip we hit a pot hole and the wing
Check light came on the wing failed to go down and is now stuck in the
Up position. Is there any tricks I can use to reset the wing ??

Mike

I've had it stuck down a couple of times - the light lit when it attempted to rise. I found that reseating the connector plug for the rear lid loom sorted it - I had planned to get some contact cleaner on the pins if it happened again but it hasn't since.

There is no easy way im afraid .. you can bypass the relay and force it down but thats a bit iffy if your not that into electrics .. no offence .. diagram below if you want to do it ..

Diagram for the wiring can also be found here ..

I suspect its a micro switch fault .. but its a strip down to get at them and test .

Basic system .. one switch for up and one for down.

Relays are under the panel behind the rear seats .

Update on the spoiler

It does move a small amount up and down
Using the manual switch

Could it still be a micro switch ? Or could it have got jammed
I notice the light come on as we dropped into a large
Pot hole

If it moves a bit its not a switch .. something has jammed.

Its a bit fiddly to remove and strip to find whats going on.

The workshop manuals can be downloaded from here .. spoiler is the same on all 996 other than turbo so year doesnt matter .

I think as a desperate measure i would run some lub spray ( wd40 type stuff ) down the rams each side then push on it whilst someone operates the switch .. its a hail mary attempt but other than taking it appart i cant offer anything :(

Hail Mary worked 👍🏻👍🏻

Expected to use some force but after a couple of squirts of
WD40 she went down on the switch alone.

Cheers

Stuff me !!

To be totally honest i never thought that would work but it was the only thing i could think of that you could try !!!

For once im

Just seen this thread, I had a similar problem and decided it was due to crap in the slides but I didn't want to take it all apart at at the time. I sprayed plenty of lubricant (rather than WD40) and all has been well since.
