Speed yellow C4S

...can't believe that I am saying this but...looks like bloody good value!

Colour isn't for everyone but is rare, sensible miles, x51, etc...get a few quid off and I reckon that you'd do alright on this one...

'Retail value £27000+ and that would get you one in a boring colour" it's a great add :worship: :worship:

When dealers say that I always think "Well why not do a tiny bit of prep and retail it then?".

It does look lovely though. :thumb:

Quite like that, id buy it but Im not sure a lot would with a replacement engine. Not matching numbers and all that guff.

To be honest Graeme and just my 2p, it's an old 996 not a Ferrari 250. :D
Plus the amount of 996s out there that have had engine replacements must be massive.
When trying to find a good one these days "matching numbers" is way down my list and probably yours, but I appreciate it's important to some two bob wannabe collectors. :D

The truth of the matter is, when you look at the relative easy availability of even supposedly rare cars e.g. Carrera GT, F40, etc. you realise that there are so many around for those with the financial means, that a 996 doesn't even register on proper collectors radars.
I'm not implying F40s are common but a quick request to the usual specialists would source you a car no problem, if money was no object. :thumb:

By the time 996s are desired by collectors only the best of the best petrol cars will be revered and desired, as petrol cars will be pretty much a retro novelty for the rich. So again the 996 won't even register.
Again just my 2p and yes my car has had a replacement engine.

You can send off to DVLA to make it numbers matching again, on the logbook at least, but it won't match Porsches data base.

I saw that too and thought it good value, Speed Yellow is the best colour too :) odd why they took such poor photos though. That would put me off a bit but could be a bargain.

Was keen to view this but after enquiring and there was talk of a broken ignition barrel, unable to start, less than glowing review of the mechanical condition etc I didn't bother. Interested to hear if anyone has actually viewed it?!

Wasn't this the car that was taken to Hamburg for it's engine because it was cheaper to buy a UK car for spares than a European one at the time?

I seem to recall an advert for a speed yellow car a couple of years ago that detailed that story.

Yep. I was in conversation recently with the owner of it who said a dealer was trading a LHD Carrera for this one. Not really used since the engine was dropped as far as I could work out.

Looks good. The x51 engine is a major plus, pretty rare.
