Limited Slip Diff

Morning all,

I made a mistake. I went on Google. I now know you can buy a limited slip diff for a 987 Cayman for between about £1,050 and £1,450 + fitting, depending if you went for geared (Quaife) or magic (Wavetrac).

First of all the question of would you go for it in a 3.4 S?

Second question is if you were making ...say ... 475 - 500 bhp and 480 ft/lbs of torque (also in the same Cayman but with - you know - a few mods), would you?

Has anybody fitted one? Or compared like for like LSD / non-LSD cars back to back?

It's an 06 with PSM...

is this the beast which is having massive crate V8 stuffed into its little engine bay? :) :)

Good God No! Why would somebody do that?!?

I'm having it custom built with some special bits... none of this crate nonsense

Oops - sorry to even suggest that

More details of that motor please!

or a link to the thread you are covering this on.

Lastly, as I have a terrible memory - are you one of Phil's pals that I met at the diner outside Salisbury?

Sadly I'm not covering the conversion in a build thread as it would consist of two photos; one of me handing the car and a thick brown envelope to an LS3 conversion specialist and another of him handing back a finished car...

Yes, I know it's cheating but I have neither the skill nor time to try it myself. I will however do a thread on what it's like when I get it back and a good look at the work that was done.

For the moment the only details are - custom built LS3 making about 475 - 500 bhp, Kennedy Engineering adapter plate to the Cayman 6 speed box with Wavetrac LSD (I went for it), custom 'louder than Phil's' exhaust system and an Emerald ECU with switchable maps. The engine is 25kg lighter too, so it should be fun

I did go to a breakfast meet near Salisbury this year - January I think - and met a whole bunch of people, so quite possibly! I would have been the good looking one complaining about a broken car... :thumb:
