New ecu (don't ask). MPL and remote clutch bleed (highly recommended) custom made pipe by HAL 7mm banjo fitting with bulkhead fitting at other end for bleed nipple. It will be attached to l/h side of inlet manifold with a custom angle bracket.
Resonance flap seal and gasket replaced, lubed with Molykote.

Great work Thumb

Love the remote bleed idea. I've had an MPL sat in the garage for years, I must get round to fitting it at some point.

Dizzy is back and looks great the old belt was very brittle and snapped at the merest tug. I should have taken notice of the warning about DHL as I had to go to their depot to pick it up. Their web site needs sorting and the phone help is non-existant it took ages to find out where the parcel was.
They have been good in the past but I asked for it to be dropped off at a collection point in the village ,listed by DHL but no longer dealing with them, and I had no way of changing the delivery.

Ahhh this is good work Diddi here, good job you switched that belt John.

I love the remote bleed idea, I have the job of bleeding my clutch soon and I'm hoping that gravity will help me Smile.

Turned the corner. Engine is back in and I've now got heat in the garage.
No not from the engine, a propane heater from Machine Mart.
Still a lot to do but should be able to fire her up tomorrow.
Clutch bleed attached to manifold unfortunately a bit more difficult if you still have the rear blower. I fed the flexy though an extra hole in the grommet that takes the crank sensor wire.
It's quite tricky getting the engine back in single handed especially at the front manouvering around the clutch pipe.

I sent the dizzy to Diddi, D964@gmx.de via DHL the problem was getting it back as the drop off was no longer handling DHL parcels. It's an occasional problem with no one in at home and funny working hours. Normally DHL is fine, but I would keep way from Parcelfarce.
Diddi's turnaround is very quick this is the 3rd one I've sent to him.
Just drop him an email.

The nonvram breather pipe from the crank case is a bit shorter than the vram one but £127! I'll bridge it with some aluminium tubing. I've forgotten the routing of the throttle cable so Trev is kindly sending me a photo of his.
All these little things are taking up a lot of time.

Bit the bullet and bought the breather pipe, it's routed differently and the original interferes with the secondary throtte.
Fired her up sans cans what a racket. Couple of leaks from fuel filter and PS pipe so shut down quickly.
All cylinders firing and after building oil pressure without dme she fired first time. I'll complete the exhaust next and let her warm up properly. Not checked actuators yet but holding vac.
Lost the little retaining clip for the throttle pedal ball joint connector I reckon a paper clip can be modifide to fit.
Worst bit was fitting the air box, I had to drop the engine a bit which made it much easier. Lot less room in the engine bay now.

Ran her up to temp and topped oil up to 1/3 on dip stick. After a few minutes the idle steadied to 900rpm, noisy tappet disappeared and most of the smoke cleared from oil spills on the exhaust. The engine note changed considerably as the ecu retuned itself. Pentosin 202 topped up.
Varioram acuators did their little start up dance.
I dropped the engine 5mm with an extra spacer on the RS mounts and removed the drooping engine insulation. It just makes access to isv and airbox cover that bit easier. I'll put some covers on the studs to save my skin.
Suspension reassembly next. Subframes in and cross braces. Should be on it's wheels by weekend but no runs in the present conditions.
It's been an instructive exercise but a lot more involved and expensive than I had anticipated.

Retaxed, brakes bled and clutch, so much easier with remote bleed. I'll wheel her out this weekend. Almost ready for the run down to Oulton for the RS track day. See you there Trev?

Great cars, interesting people but best to leave early as Friday afternoon traffic is dire.
Colin Belton is usually there and the mad crowd from Dublin.

Trial run next w/e as long as the skip has been removed from the farmyard.
Utility room almost done so I will have somewhere to wash up next to the garage. The builder came in useful to torque up the rear axle hub nuts, ex motorcycle mechanic so he knows his stuff.

Fixed a leak from the oil tank filler tube (thx Trev) and the obvious severe o/s rear toe (It moved)
Mid range torque of the vram very impressive nice smooth power up to rev limit and no stalls with the LWF but all in all I wouldn't do it again.
Bloody handbrake is still crap, better but no handbrake turns.
