Rear Track rod part number interchangeability - Hartech

Hi,

I received 2 refurbished rear track rods with different part numbers from Hartech. As they are closed for the weekend and I am planning to do the work tomorrow Sunday, can anyone tell me if part number 996-331-045-10 ( casting number 996.331.245.10) can be used with a 997 part number 997-331-045-03 (casting number 997.331.245.03) as Hartech sent me one of each. The bushing is slightly different, but dimensions as the same...

The older workshop manual available on this forum FAQ says older types can't be mixed, but I don't have any literature on these later P/Ns.

Any help is appreciated, otherwise I'll wait for Hartech to open on Monday. I'll probably be in the shlt at that stage anyway if the anti roll bar bolts snap... I have been dousing them with penetrant over the summer in preparation and will heat them tomorrow before going near them with a spanner.

They may physically fit, but they are different, and I expect will perform differently (however imperceptibly). Personally I would want a matching pair, like tyres.

You will find that the plastic aero part won't fit around the 997 arm. I had exactly the same, I just sent the 997 one back and they swapped it for me.

The main difference is the bush; Porsche changed to a spherical later I believe.

But Hartech arms have a new bush, so this is probably actually the same on these refurbed arms.

Tre bushes are physically different looking, so I'm not sure if one is spherical or both. I'll email Hartech.

I checked with Hartech and the arms, while they look different are both modified to the latest spec. They offered to send one that would make an identical pair, but I'm ok with the 2 I have.

Removing the remains of the coffin arm bolt is my main problem anyway - one end dawn off last night. Somewhere near an hour with a hack saw

And that is only the RH rear. I still have to attempt the track rod eccentric bolt...and then do the other 3 corners. :frustrated:
