Well my wife has had her 981 S for approx a month now. Her last S was wrapped and was really good at stopping stone chips and with her new car I was concerned that it would pick up the usual rash of stone chips. It 2 1/2 yrs old so had a few minor ones already. I had done a fair amount of research on paint protection film and after deciding on the type I wanted to go for I had a chat with someone who has done a lot of detailing on our cars over the years and he recommended a company called Max Protect advising that they do a lot of work for RPM technique and work on some very high end cars. So I gave Janis a call and he was really helpful in explaining all the different options and products. So a to do list was agreed on and a date set.
We dropped the car off last Monday. We went over the details and looked at any areas of concern I had on the car. Janis promised to keep us updated with info and photos of the progress.
True to his word we received lots of photos of the work in progress, which to my wife was probably not the best move as seeing her car in with paint correction in progress made her have kittens! 'Why does it look scratched"? So I explained that to rectify any defects or swirls etc this was the necessary process! I have seen plenty of cars go through paint correction and they always have to look worse to look amazing!
We collected the car on Saturday and the finished result is nothing short of amazing! It is way better than new! Depth of shine is insane! Also knowing that it has self heal PPF and should repel most of what life throws at it is good to know. The only part that does not have film is the doors, (except handles as finger nail scratches are annoying) rear boot lid and rear bumper (again except leading edge going back under ie usual stone chip area) these areas have been given a different coating of ceramic compared to the coating applied to the PPF. Wheel hubs have been painted black as the grey Porsche finish is not that durable. Wheels & calipers ceramic coated and glass all coated. Basically everything just falls off the car, nothing sticks!
We are super pleased with the result, it looks like new! If anyone is considering this type of treatment on thier car I would thoroughly recommend Janis and his company Max Protect.
The 996's now look decidedly dull sat next to my wife's car. (I better get the turtle wax out ) :floor:
