so when the manual says the tyre pressure should be X when "cold" @ 20C - is that after a mile or two "normal" driving? I have a 991.1 C4S so normal pressure is 2.2 front and 2.6 rear which they never are at start up but do get up to those pressures after a few miles......or am I being to ***** about !! :?:

Pressures are best taken after car has stood still ( I take mine first thing in morning before sun is on the car or tyres ( if outside, but obviously better in garage) not after having been driven ....
I find it's quite usual in my area that the inside garage temp is conveniently about 20degrees.
Although the normal temp stayed by manufacturers is as you stated 20 deg c.which is the datum point they utilise.
You can adjust for whatever the ambient is.I usually do this in winter if checking pressures ...
Have a google , there is plenty of info such as this ......
