Any body know how to remove the small black front wheel arch fittings.

IIRC there are two types of black fixings, nuts screwed onto studs and push pin studs which have a pin pushed into a clip.

For the former, unscrew. For the latter, use a fine flat blade screwdriver to lever out the central plastic part leaving the outer plastic clip in place, then pull out the outer part.

Ideally you need a flat, pronged trim remover tool.

This set pretty much covers any work you will do on your car were trim tools are needed .

several there will remove the plastic arch clips .

You just swear at them really loudly, then bosh them with a sharp chisel and go to the OPC for some more.

replacement clips are cheap as chips on ebay. Search as a vw part.
