Great, does this mean you have enough people for the spa tour??
Also once sorted we are looking at meeting at Eurotunnel sat 27th around 12/2pm depending what others want etc.
thanks Ian Thumb

not as much space Rob , looks like space for about 25 cars in a 90 room hotel Surprised nooo but I guess we can double park infront of another members car.

I think this is where should have stayed but its a bit out of town and I couldn't see any bars or restaurants close by.

Looking on Google maps there is a bowling alley next door with a big car park. No idea what the scoop would be on parking or security but may be worth a look.

Daft questions alert!!! And apologies if this has been answered earlier in the thread, but to attend the factory tour on the Tuesday are people getting the tunnel on Monday? "ELA's tour" sounds good on 30th but presumably that won't be possible if I want to go to the factory that day too?? In which case maybe do the factory tour on the Thursday 2nd?? Geography and travel planning are my Achilles heel (her indoors books the holidays and I just tag along)

The factory tour on the Tuesday will be in the morning to allow sufficient time for a look in the museum followed by lunch (either in Restaurant Christophoros or elsewhere) then the drive to meet the rest of the group in Oberhausen. Therefore it will not be possible to do the ELA's tour and the visit the factory that day.

People doing the factory tour on Tuesday will be arriving in Stuttgart on Monday, either from home or after the tour of Spa Francorchamps.

To avoid any confusion please only add your name to the list when your plans are confirmed

Squelch, I've removed you from the factory tour for now - I hope you don't mind and understand why Wink

ELA's tour will start a long way (nearly 3 hours drive) from Stuttgart so if you want to do both then you'd need to book the factory tour for the Thursday.

I will be interested in what route you work on Phil. France is the easy option on the peage but a lot less fun than Belgium/Germany down route.

EDIT: be advised it’s france school holidays from the 27th, the bad regions for us as it’s paris/north, so Belgium it is!! This is the table with European holidays on...

https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=133261

We are going on the Saturday early and probably stoping at the usual restaurant in chimay and then on to Frankfurt (copilot wants Luxembourg for some reason? So we will see) I might have to pick Longers brains on routes and interesting roads.

In my opinion Luxembourg is Europe's best kept driving secret. Most people whizz through on the motorway only stopping at the services for cheap fuel (hence the huge queues normally!) and cheap cigarettes.

I have done a several tours there and even though it's a tiny country there have been more than enough fab roads to keep us entertained for 2 days without crossing the border.

If going Calais > Frankfurt in 1 day you're problem will be how long it will take to get to Lux and then having enough time there to make it worthwhile. Seeing as you're such a good customer Wink drop me an email to tell me how long you want to spend travelling that day and I'll see what I can come up with.

Well, that's it I'm sorted!
Longers is sorting most of it(https://fasttracktours.co.uk)
and I have booked the Tryp for 30th and 1st Thumb
this is what I have planned, anyone is welcome to join on this tour or join along the way and there are other groups doing different itineries,
so join in if you wish thumbsup
Sat 27th - drive from Doncaster to Calais (meeting others at tunnel I hope!)

Sun 28th - driving from a hotel (tbc) somewhere near Calais to Spa Francorchamps Circuit (Belgium F1 circuit)

Mon 29th-guided tour around Spa Circuit, pits garages etc. and a couple of laps in convoy, then a nice drive to Stuttgart meet others, have a drink and evening meal.

Tue 30th -Porsche factory tour hopefully see the 992 coming off the line, Porsche Museum + Christophorous restaurant for Lunch, then drive to the Tryp hotel @ Oberhausen.

weds 1st - Have a good nosey around Dinslaken show then 25mins to the Classic Remise collection at Dusseldorf for a look around and lunch.

Thur 2nd- Drive home, Eurotunnel not booked yet but anytime really, I would guess between 4pm and 6pm Thumb
Now to drop my oil and get her ready thumbsup

That sounds excellent Paul, something similar would suit me too, the only thing I’d like to have time for is the Mercedes Museum - but that means another drive to Stuttgart on Thursday as there’s no time on Tuesday. I don’t mind about being in the Tryp or Mercure but the Tryp seems to have better parking according to others. Classic Remise would be good to fit in depending on how long I would need at Dinslaken to see the show properly so I’d leave that optional if I could. Looks like it’s a definite ‘yes’ from me - just waiting for Longers to finalise his itinerary and options. Looking forward to the trip and meeting you and many others!

Gorsh-Hi Gordon, I understand you are traveling from the IOM ??
quite a trek to Dover, ok in a Porsche though Wink
I was looking to get a meeting point at Eurotunnel on Sat 27th April, time TBC and then travel together to the first hotel in France but not too far though??.
I also wondered if on the next day, drive to Spa we could take in the old classic Chimay circuit and the Ardenne region with some cracking routes??? (Longers help please Confused )
Anyway running away with myself,
meet at the tunnel 1st Thumb
Cheers, Paul.

The reference to meatballs earlier is a great restaurant stop a few hours out of Calais and close to that circuit. It also puts you on some great cross country roads to Spa...including the “911” 👍 I’m sure longers will have a few ideas for you Thumb

We are taking the same route much earlier on the Saturday so will try to remember to post on here if there are any diversions etc but I’m sure it will be fine.
