Behind the scenes tour of Spa Francorchamps (max 20 people) including 2 laps of the circuit in your own car in the morning.
Aftenoon touring the Eifel and playing on the sublime and often ignored roads in Luxembourg.
    30 April
More Eifel / Lux in the morning.
Drive to Oberhausen in the afternoon.

That sounds good Ian - would there be a chance/time to look around the Museum before or after the meal?

At this point I am probably going to skip the spa leg and head straight to Stuttgart and meet everyone at the V8 hotel and pick up the itinerary from that stage. Thumb Thumb

My rough plan. Elsewhere in Germany 27/28. Then Stuttgart 29/30 with dinner 30th @christo. Driving dinslaken 1st early.

The restaurant is only open Sunday’s for group bookings of 40 or more according to website. so original idea was 28/29 in v8 but no christo restaurant option on that.

Longers...will fit in with the group factory tour whenever it’s booked (me plus copilot).

It usually is open whilst the restaurant is serving. But only access is from the restaurant level access after the usual museum closing time. Shop and museum reception are not available then (so no audio guides). It’s the best time for photos though as usually empty.

Thanks for the info - I'd love to have time for a proper tour of the museum while I'm there - the itinerary above is great and I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to eat at the restaurant, so the solution for me is to return the next morning for the museum then head for Calais in the afternoon. The 3rd is a Friday so they should be open as normal. Another option I will consider is staying over until Saturday 4th, then visit the Mercedes museum on the afternoon of the 3rd Very Happy

Different buildings at same Motorworld location. See photo classic is the building in front, V8 hotel is more recent in the big white building. Porsche and mclaren dealership buildings have been added since this pic.

Both classic and v8 hotel have v8 design rooms in them martini porsche, gulf mini etc.

Longers

So the chips are down ! Happy New Year

29.4.2019 I would like to drive direct to or meet in Stuttgart on 29th and visit the Mercedes Museum - numbers permitting and timings for me are OK

Evening meal in the Christophorus Restaurant - numbers permitting

29.4.2019 ACCOMODATION BOOKED AT THE V8 - but have cancellation

30.4.2019 - Factory tour in the morning and then i would probably skip the museum cafe lunch to dash to the Classic Remise and then onto Oberhausen

PS I have already booked the Tryp for 30th April and 1st May
PPS I have not booked the train yet

Thanks

Will definitely be leaving on 28th, or maybe even on the 27th! Not sure which route yet or where to stay! May go via Bruges, then Spa if that is on the itinerary!

Hi guys

Thanks for the replies.

Apologies for the radio silence from me. We were away for a few days at the end of last week and since getting home I've been wiped out with a heavy cold/man flu.

I'm waiting for Spa to answer a question I asked them and then I'll share full details about the behind the scenes tour at Spa, the hotel close by, the Factory tour, dinner at the Porsche museum, the show tickets/display area, etc etc...

Cheers,
L'rs

Thanks for the update.

Really looking forward to this trip.

Really warming to the idea of the Spa visit.

The factory visit should also be awesome,

Now considering whether to stay for another day of so to do the Mercedes visit as well.

So its starting to look like two itineraries beginning to develop.
The slightly longer

Spa VIP tour , Stuttgart V8 hotel, factory and/or museum visit, Dinslaken show.

and the slightly shorter

Stuttgart V8 hotel, factory and/or museum visit, Oberhousen and Dinslaken show.

either way its looking like a nice run of cars from Stuttgart to Oberhousen after the Stuttgart visit.

Shame but the Belgium Porsche Club, Francorchamps Days 2019 are earlier in April again , weekend of the 13th April. so we cant tie that in.

Thumb staying in Frankfurt sat/sun for beers with mates, then we have booked the factory tour for Monday at 1:45pm, but will repeat it if there is a group booking. Want to do dinner in the restaurant again so staying Tuesday night as well. Restaurant and museum are confirmed closed Sunday/Monday.

I did spot that the restaurant now has kitchen opening hours 12-2pm tues-sat on the website so a group lunch would work ?

I know I'm a bit late to the party and I've not read the options in the thread thus far, but it would be sad to not stretch the legs of the old girl Wink
Let me know if anyone is interested in a guided tour around the Moselle/Eifel/Huensruck to Oberhausen.

Been using these for years. Most insurers also send out an accident form in English when you ask for a greencard. If there is an accident, you and the other driver can both understand what you are saying on the claim forms Thumb it’s also a good time to add a driver just for the trip if you have a copilot not usually on the insurance 👍
