I don't suppose anybody has a diagram showing the various locations to inject cavity wax in to on a 996 do they?

MC

I don't have a diagram. I seen pictures on here (or pistonheads) showing plugs at the ends of the sill which are behind the arch liners. I was planning to squirt stuff down from each end.

What wax are you planning to use? Aerosol or shutz gun?

Wax shortlist dor me is dinitrol or Wurth. Undecided on method. Wurth cavity wax is used by Centre Gravity which interestingly they spray on the coffin arm bushes. Ally corrosion on these tracks under the rubber causing the bush to separate from the arm.

Current thought is Dinitrol 1000 with a schutz gun, as I have a decent compressor in the garage. The sills are easy, there are also cavities above the arches front and rear and it looks like some space around the bottom of the front boot.

Hi MC,
I'm planning to do my sills and doors as a minimum.

I've used Dinitrol 3125 before and asked them:

'I want to add extra protection to the cavities (mainly sills and doors) on my classic cars. Should I use ML, 3125 or 1000?'

their reply was:
'Good morning Mike,
I would recommend Dinitrol ML as it has a very high penetration.'

so that is what I plan to use, in fact must get on with it while the weather is warm. I've spayed 3125 on my Lotus Elan +2 and it sprays fine with a lance on my fairly basic compressor.

Slightly off topic, but I had my imported 997 professionally undersealed/coated by a Dinitrol specialist. Chris at CG checked the car over after it was completed and he was impressed by the covering/coating they did and how far they got into all the key areas.

Dinitrol DIY kit should provide you the guidelines and areas you need to cover.

:)

Working on the car I've noticed a few plastic plugs under the arches. They are shaped like a top hat for an 8mm ish size hole. I wonder if these seal off cavities? I'll probably get some new ones before starting mine.

Have a look at the body manuals from here if you dont already have them ....

Im thinking " plug location plan " is the closest to what you want .. i couldn,t find specfic instructions on what you want so this is the best i could find .
