Ok so thinking of selling my 996 as i have lost my use of a garage.
Bought the car last April from a guy who had owed it for 9 years.
In this time it was maintained to a very high level mechanically.
The biggest and most important job was a full engine rebuild by Hartech back in 2013 after a cracked head. The engine was rebuilt with a recon head and modified intermediate shaft so no fears for its future reliability.
When the engine was refitted it also got a new clutch and flywheel and has since had an exhaust refresh with new cat and stock spec rear silencers.
I specifiacally bought this one as the main 996 issues have been sorted and therefore the car was a perfect base for a mild restoration.
Ah the bad news....well the paintwork is a little tired. Plenty of chips around the front, swirl marks in the paintwork and the front bumper has a ding and is a different shade of blue. Finally there is a minor rust scab on drivers door.
So, mechanically spot on and with a great interior, crying out for some paint.
Currently on rare 18" Fuchs reps (made in Germany) however I am planning on selling with the original 18" Twists (Fuchs available at extra cost)

Am sure there will be plenty of interest, having had work done by Hartech.

GLWTS

I think you might be underselling this with the Hartech. That is bargain city. It should be gone by the end of the day at that price. GLWTS

It does look like good value. However I think to many people, a 'full Hartech rebuild' means new liners and pistons which will sort out the bore scoring / ovality issues. If I am reading this correctly it has had an updated IMS fitted by Hartech and new big end and main bearings, the bores haven't been touched as there was not an issue with them.

Edited to say that it has had bores re-rounded and restraining rings fitted, which is good. Trouble reading the right angle photo....

Hmmm, that hedge could do with a trim. Jeezus...

For Sale

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Agree that it looks like value, was hoping someone on here would like it as a project and bring the bodywork up to the standard of the mechanicals which was my plan.
No interest on here unfortunately so looks like it's time for Ebay

The main issue with the 996 3.6 engine is bore scoring. Was this addressed with the Hartech rebuild?

I am amazed that didnt get snapped up , a 4k full respray and the car would be fantastic body and engine sorted for 15k, has the market really gone that quiet :dont know:

Personally I'd say £14k, although I wouldn't say the engine was 'sorted' unless it had new liners in.

Ah I thought it had a full hartech rebuild or did I miss something :?:

No mention of replacing cylinder liners, just fitting a 2nd hand head on one bank.......unless I've missed something. :dont know:

Edit: so misleading stating full Hartech rebuild.

I mentioned that earlier, it does say that cylinders were re-rounded and restraining rings fitted.
