Retrofit 991.2 multi-function steering wheel to 991.1

I am looking to buy a 991.2 MF steering wheel with paddles (but no airbag) to replace the existing 991.1 MF steering wheel fitted to my car. Does anyone know:

1. Whether the existing airbag will be a straight swap?

2. Any Porsche specialist that could do the work for me (ideally in the UK Midlands), including fitting the GPS (German Performance Service) adaptor and reprogramming to allow full use of the multi-function buttons?

All help greatly appreciated.

Pretty sure the more dome shaped 991.2 air bag doesnt fit the 991.1 which was like the 997.2 steering wheel. Nigel99 did the 991.2 wheel/airbag swap on his 997.2 so worth a PM to him to ask what he needed to do to get it all working ok. :thumb: :thumb:

Gorgeous wheel to add. Makes the interior more modern.

I have a 991.2 with MF wheel, but I preferred the simplicity of the Sport Design wheel on my 981 Boxster. Just another example of the fact we all prefer different things.

Thanks for responses. Two further questions:

1. Is it possible to replace a non-heated 991.1 MF steering wheel with a heated 991.2 MF steering wheel (and for the replacement steering wheel to function properly as a heated wheel)?

2. Has anyone tried replacing a 991.1 MF steering wheel with the 991.2 MF steering wheel with sport mode buttons and if so, do all functions work correctly and how is it to operate in real life? (my 991.1 has Sport Chrono fitted)

Has anyone come across a specialist Porsche dealer who can carry out the work, including the reprogramming elements to make everything work as it should?

Thanks in advance for all help.

Answers to questions:

1. Yes, heated is possible as long as the correct GPS adaptor is chosen [edit: a new heater compatible clock spring will also be required - dealer fitment necessary according to GPS + ECU re-progamming to enable heating function]

2. This sport mode buttons on the steering wheel will not work fully with currently available GPS adaptors (the modes cannot be changed from the wheel, but the dial on the wheel will show the mode chosen from the centre console). GPS is working on a new adaptor that will allow the sport modes to function fully - ie selection of modes from the steering wheel.

Still looking for a Porsche specialist that can switch steering wheels over for me. No progamming is apparently needed for a 991.1 MF wheel to a 991.2 (or Macan) MF wheel - plug and play with the latest GPS adaptor. Anyone out there?

I would deffo ask Nigel99 who has done the swap. :thumb:
