I know we are still midsummer and the car is very much in use.

BUT, I like to plan ahead, so can anybody recommend a decent outdoor car cover for my Boxster S, which will be living outdoors over the winter.

I know there are some pretty fancy ones out there but I dont want to pay silly money.

I suppose up to £300-00 would be max budget.
FWIW a black one would be nice as it would look smart on the driveway but I could compromise on that :)

Depending how windy it can get at your house, a car cover could potentially cause more damage that do good. When it's windy the car covers can fill with air and any dust or dirt that traps between the paint and car can act as an abrasive, and mark the paint as the cover moves around.
Others have not found that to be the case and it's fine. It's going to be your own individual circumstances that dictate which is right or wrong.

Try "Every Car Covered", I bought an indoor one last year for my F type soft top. Its very well made & has under body straps which you will need if outdoor, it was very reasonable & comes in a zip up bag. I just had a quick look on their site & an outdoor boxster one is £148 & their extreme pro is £215, well worth a look.

I use a official OPC outdoor cover over mine during winter. it seems to fit well and fastens under the car, it draws with a cord at the rear also. for security I put a strap over and under just ahead of windscreen as well. Got it thrown in when bought the car so not sure how much it would be retail??
Use a Machine Mart tent garage over it now but still put cover over in winter, temporary garage is good as anchored it down to ground with eyebolts and ratchet straps.

Another plus for specialised covers. When I bought the car I was worried about it being exposed to the elements. After some research went with a stormsheild+ cover.

A year on, I couldn't be happier with the cover. You have to clean the car religiously before every use, but after a while it becomes normal.
