I have managed to source some of the Porsche lubricant 999.917.778.00 which is Fuchs Gleitmo WSP 5040 which seems very hard to get hold of as it was a special order and took 4 months to get in.

It is used to prevent the actuator rods seizing on the turbos on the 997, it is stated on the W902 service bulletin (i have a copy if you would like as it is too large to attach). I wanted to give my turbos a coat yearly as preventative maintenance.

I have ordered 30 cans from my friends at a lubricants specialist called 'Oilwise" near Manchester, i am having 2 cans so there are 28 left. If you would like some please speak to:

Sorry forgot to add they are £30 each which is a lot cheaper than OPC

£30 is a bargain, the last can I bought from an OPC a couple of years ago was double that! :bandit:

As an aside, I've been squirting my actuators since I bought the car in 2009 and haven't had any issues.

Hi Martian,
I am wanting to change the exhaust on my 997 turbo and liked the look of the Capristo, how does it sound? I had PSE on my 4S and liked the fact i could make it louder. Everyone says to get the Kline so not sure what to do.

Tom

I love the sound of my Capristo at tickover and then when the valves open under load, but to be honest, they aren't worth what they charge for them now (I bought mine when they were half the current RRP).

Also the customer service sucks, my cats failed after three years/~15K miles and they weren't interested in any goodwill replacement.

If I was to buy an exhaust again, I'd go Kline or MillTek.

Ok great thanks for for info Kline it is. I will try and have a listen to a k-line. Or if one comes up second hand I will get one.

Tom

Good stuff Glazey very helpfull I will get a can ordered up quick google finds the website

surely leaving the link would be beneficial to members :?:

I know. Im always getting into trouble :)

If anyone is having trouble i can contact Andy, I think he is away till Monday

Tom

If your wanting advice on an exhaust for a Gen 2 Turbo do what a few of us have done, take off the silencer and fit a Sharkwerks pipe, they're less than half the price of a Kline and sound excellent.

Thanks easternjets

I have a 997.1 turbo. i am going to wait till a good 2nd hand one comes on

Tom

Ah Turbo 1 is different as the cats are integral to the system.

Kline 👌
I doubt you will find a second hand one. PM sent.

Yes absolute bargain, I paid £60 from OPC about 6 months ago inc. VAT

Well done finding it elsewhere - I knew it must have been available without Porsche Tax , and I posted the Brand/make a couple of months ago in the hope someone would find it :thumb:

Glazey - your googling skills are clearly superior to mine

Hi,
I couldn't find it on google, I had to use a contact at work, his brother had started a specialist oil company called oilwise. I think he used to work for Fuchs so had the contacts to specially order this oil. It took 4 months to order it in

If you would like some of the oil. Please contact [email protected] I think he is away till Monday so might be slow to get back to you

Thanks Tom 8)
