So after quite a few questions (thanks to all who humoured me), I'm in the Aqua Club!
Picked up my C4S today...great day for it
To my other thread, I'm not sure if Metropole Blue is too blue, but Ocean Blue is pleasingly different to day to day blacks. And Aqua Blue is a fantastic exterior colour. Vendor's pictures really didn't do the car justice at all.
Spongebob would faint at the mileage But I did the right thing (I think/hope) and bought on condition. The car's done 74k miles but if you were told it had done 20k miles I genuinely don't think you'd question it. Night and day to others I've seen in every department.
Vendor was a thoroughly decent guy prepared to do a sensible deal on the car. It had full Porsche service history and at the price negotiated I agreed it could have the one that was due now done at Northway, who gave the car a clean bill of health...they carried out a major with plugs. Brakes and discs were done fairly recently. 2 new tyres just now and the other two are very recent. All rads are OK, all fluids changed when they should have been. Both window regulators have been changed recently (driver's side in December). Etc etc
There wasn't much paperwork to go with the service stamps but the OPCs that had serviced it were brilliant and provided copies, and my local OPC was superb in talking me through warranty positions, service schedules and providing the original build sheet. I'll contemplate putting an OPC warranty on in 3mths (you have to wait this long apparently) but think it will probably be wise.
Had a great drive home, pussy footing most of the way. Check oil level message came on which was a bit worrying, but pressures etc were all fine. Pulled in and checked the levels and all good. Will keep an eye on that.
It's obvious the car doesn't handle like anything else I've driven before. The whole feel of the car is very different and I suspect will take a bit of getting used to. So patience is the name of the game Did have a bit of a play though and the noise it makes is superb when you get it moving (PSE equipped car).
Pretty much on top of the PCM system now too. Spent a bit of time tonight sorting ID3 tags that work with the car (does anyone know what the latest s/w version is for the PCM? And also if album art shows on the screen - I believe not on a 997...trivial but I do like to get things working if it's possible ). All works and sounds great for a car of this age.
Special thanks to Phil997. Without seeing the pictures of his car I probably would have given this one a miss, and he also gave some great input into the one I was looking at.
Inital photos attached. I love the colour combo so will be waiting before being tempted to make any changes on that front. The wheels also look much, much better in the metal than on photos (though I do quite fancy some GT3 style wheels in Weiss Gold...if anyone knows a sensible supplier of that style wheel, let me know!).
