I have the following damage to my front numberplate.
Does anyone know if this is an MOT fail?
Thank you

Regardless of MOT, why would you keep a cracked number plate on your car? :?

Buy a new one.

It depends how strict your MOT test station is. I would hope you'd just get an advisory note or a quiet word from the tester.

Strictly I would say it should be a fail as the distortion is probably enough to make the number unrecognisable by ANPR.

If that is true, I am going to take a hammer and chisel to my rear plate..!

Average speed cameras read the fronts. Might want to do that instead

Except when they read the rears, like all the ones on the A40 into London. Think bikes...

I cam out of the house this morning and someone has reversed into it and I have MOT booked for Monday

You'll be fine. Providing it's legal in all other regards, a small crack like that isn't a fail. If you're worried, go into Halfords with the V5 & they'll make you one while you wait.

I have 4 sets of plates for mine

Normal
MOT
Holiday
BMW

:what:

In order of list:

Normal (on car but not legal)
Holiday (When in St Tropez, not legal and increased chance of getting my collar felt)
MOT (legal)
BMW (from when I had my 850i)

Although for my last 3 MOTs the tester has passed the illegal one currently on the car.
