Well not a good day, nice weather nice drive out, then nasty noises and no gears. :dont know:

It took 10 hours to recover my car, 3 recovery vehicles later and its home at 23:00. The joys of having such a low car, and now not so much fun.

So before it goes in to be fixed, thought I would ask what people think is the issue, and I will report back in when diagnosed :thumb:

So the symptoms:

Doing 40 mph going into Canterbury, not even opened the taps once and have not since bringing the car out of SORN, nasty noise 10 miles later, metallic / rubbing noise my first thought was like the wheel arch liner or something had fallen on a back wheel, stopped and checked nothing, moved off a little, a bit more noise, checked again, then no forward gears, had reverse for about 3 feet then that went.

Car goes into all gears, no noises, but no drive forward or back, my thoughts are my clutch has broken up, like to know yours :thumb:

Cheers mate, it was a horrible day, 2 recovery vehicles could not get my car on with an array of fetched scaffold boards etc, so two tilt and slides later, then at last a full flat on the ground thingy. Spent 8 hours in Morrisons Cafe, feel numb !!

I think from memory its got a GT2 RS jobbie (720nm I think saw the clutch and it had Sachs Racing written around it) and a single mass flywheel. Its only done under 2k miles, but fitted 2 years ago !!

Yep, my money is on a less than happy clutch.
Hope it gets diagnosed and sorted without too much drama BF.

I hope so mate, however on the plus side, I was so bored so took a few shots not on my drive or workplace!! Towing eye in place to get it off a very very busy road !!

It was getting late, sundown, but even broken the 997 still looks good :thumb:

Sorry to hear that mate, sounds like a terrible day but please keep us posted... on the plus side your car does look awesome 😎

Sorry to hear this, Boba. Getting recovered is a painful and traumatic experience even at the best of times.

Hope it's all sorted quickly and painlessly. You'll have to be getting out enjoying the sun in that 'vert' of yours!

Boba - sounds a stressful and rubbish day - sorry

As has already been said, on the plus side the car looks great. The towing eye gives it the 'competition look'......

and i suppose if its your clutch after such a short spell, they will shrug and say wear and tear

good luck with this

Sorry to hear that. It doesn't sound good. If you lost forward gears first, then reverse afterwards, it sounds more gearbox than clutch to me. Surely if it was the clutch it would affect all gears the same?

Cheers guys, car got rained on for the first time last night

The car is going to a recognized specialist to fix, if it is anything to do with the clutch or flywheel, then I will be taking matters up with the clowns who fit it.

Gearbox fault - or possibly the diff. I munched all the sun geard in my diff. Not pleasant.

Good luck with the fix there.

Hope not ! a new gearbox will just about make my week !! It was trying to pull forward a little in all gears like when a clutch is really really slipping, take up but not move.

Just want it fixed now

The recovery bloke said this, the diff, but I thought maybe not being 4 wheel drive.
