Martyn , looks like you got yourself a nice 997 at a little under the right price for it. the big bonus for you is already knowing the car and the customer and being in the trade. its a 3.6 so the stronger engine. My suggestions are spend 1k and get the newer IMS bearings, do some research on these , being in the trade and mates/trade rates it will probably cost you 40% less than that but well worth doing on a pre 06 car as failure will be a rebuild and spoil your fun.
Then if it was me either enjoy your 997 ownership at a great price or spend some money modding it either way welcome to the forum and 911 ownership Thumb Thumb

Again thanks for all the opinions. Usually a cat c would have maybe scared me off but I do know the car well and have been over it for hours making sure the repair was good. I had a bodywork specialist look over it aswel and he was impressed as he couldn’t tell either apart from a few small signs of paintwork. I had a look at the report on the car and there was no structural damage. We also have a hunter alignment machine at work so I did a full geo on the car and it’s spot on which was reassuring! Its all well and good saying spend another 9 and get a straight one but I can’t afford it, but this was the money I had to spend on a car. I managed to chop another 1000 off and have got it for 13k which personally I think I can’t lose on. I think it’s a good spec as it has the sports package and comes with cocoa leather interior which i believe isn’t that common but you guys probs know better. Also comes with a private plate which is nice Thumb

Bargain at £13k.

Ignore the spend another £9k comment, some people live in a world of their own where £9k is nothing and don't realise other people don't. And the one about structural damage in a crash! If it was structurally bent it would be a Cat A or B...... Would be lovely if people researched what they were talking about before blithely putting a misleading comment up on a site because of ignorance!

Cat C and D cars are fine if properly repaired. It can literally because by the time an insurance company pays the rates of storage and fixing then it would cost them more than its worth.

Enjoy the car, will be incredible fun. What did you have before?

911's are precision tools and nothing really gets close. Certainly not for £13k!

13k, Jeez. Proper bargain.

It'll have had to be that cheap to tempt me too, Even if you come to sell it and can't shift it for years (definitely not at 13k). You could break it for spares and make most if not all of your money back!

£13k Surprised Surprised Fantastic, and well done Thumb

What a bargain, and. Brilliant way to get into 911 motoring. Like others have said ignore the +£9k comment, we don’t all have money to throw away! This is a great forum, not so much snobbery as some places.

Welcome Thumb

Congratulations it sounds like you have found yourself a really bargain and got your dream car, nice work. The only thing to watch out for on the forum is getting talked into too many mods but that's half the fun. The coco interior as you say is not one of the common colours which is a bonus as well. So how about a photo of your new P&J Thumb

Really? I’ll get my bid in now for 13k, given you’ve crawled over it with some knowledge Laughing

Good work, but yes, let’s see some pics thumbsup

After a busy week finally got it on the road! Only took the one pic so far but hope you like! Looking into possibly doing the IMS upgrade for piece of mind, could anyone shed some light on it? Have experience with the boxsters but not the 911. I’m hoping it is the similar once you’re in there as it’s a 2004 car. Have read a lot but no solid answers

Looking really great for £13k! Absolutely can't argue with the amount of car for the money - and if it's been repaired to a good standard and runs OK then get out there and enjoy it!

I would hope that at £13k it's not too rough around the edges cosmetically. I guess with such a great price paid you've got room to make improvements (and refurb the wheels!).

Wheel and car colour are all subjective, long as you like it just ignore everyone else. I think they look fine and you have done well Smile

yeah I said I hate, not everyone should change their wheels to 'normal' because I say so.....

I live in hertfordshire, close to essex, and round here there are way to many people who think the cutting edge of style is a white range rover evoque with black wheels.........

That look lovely and is a bargain. Whereabouts in Cornwall are you?

Re. IMS, that is a whole can of worms. I would search for IMS bearing on here and on Rennlist.com and come to your own conclusions. Essentially yes, it is the same issue/solution for 997s as it is for 996s and Boxsters.
