At the end of last year I sometimes got a creaking at the windscreen drivers side area. It was suggested it could be the top strut mount, anyone experienced this? Is it an easy job?

Cheers guys

Coffin arms can make a similar noise.

Top mounts not a bad job in itself (though I got someone to do it) but they were very corroded and needed some brutal treatment to get out!

Do you actually mean at the windscreen .. ie inside the car ..

A post trim .. needs tapeor clips checking ..

Windscreen seal can go dry but thats more on 996 .. it causes a creaking type of noise on cornering .

If you mean o/s/f suspension then various bits can make that noise .. top strut as mentioned , lower coffin arm ball joint are a couple .

Top strut mount is okish to change .. depends on what comes undone .

Youll need a geo afterwards though .

Sounds like strut brace to me, had exactly that sort of creaking coming from the lower windscreen area on my old BMW 650i. Quick tighten of the bolts sorted it nicely

Cheers guys, I'll hopefully get her out from winter hibernation and see how she goes.
