Heated Seat Settings?

Hi all,

A month or so ago, I had my 997.2 sent to a respected Porsche specialist for a full service post-purchase. One of the issues I flagged was that the heated seats would come on when the car starts.

They determined that this was a comfort setting controlled through PCM, and that the seats would only turn on under 5C.

They explained that as I'd retrofitted a new head unit and taken out PCM, it would not be possible to change this setting.

However, I'm not 100% convinced by this. For all my searching, I can't find any manuals that indicate this is a PCM setting. Moreover, I started the engine the other day and the onboard computer showed the outside temperature at 10C, yet the heated seats still came on.

I'm really hoping somebody here who may be technically minded or has experienced this issue before can help me. It's a niggling little thing and I'd really like to get it sorted so they don't come on automatically.

Many thanks
Josh

Interesting problem.

Cant say ive ever started a Gen 2 and had the heated seats come on before .. theres a switch for that and that works at higher temps than only 5 degrees.

If there is a setting in the PCM then im afraid i dont know as i dont tend to mess around with the settings on it in my line of work .

Personnely i would like to see some document proff that this is a normal function or i would like them to demonstrate it on another car .

Without the standard head unit then you cant check these settings and it might even be linked to the fault .

Logically there might even be a temp sensor thats reading too low.

EDIT ..

Read your handbook about the heated seat function .. it WILL say if it defaults to on at low temps .

Josh never heard of that mate and never experienced it , think they are giving you BS to keep you happy .and anyway even if it was the case a piwis or durametric would be able to override and turn off that function whatever head unit you have.. my initial thought is are both seats coming on or just the drivers, I am thinking more like a faulty sensor or button mate :thumb: :thumb:
