Please bear with me.... I have a 997 incoming at the end of the month! 997 Carrera 4S and I have a question on the rear badging which I am sure someone with more knowledge can help with...

Did the 997 Carerra 4S ever come from the factory de badged on the back? Was there ever an option to replace the 'Carerra 4S' with a simple '911' badge? Was there ever an option to replace the 'Carrera 4S' with a simple 'Porsche' on the rear as per the 991?

I was considering removing the rear badging and replacing with something simpler? Thoughts or comments much appreciated....

Thanks

Good question as i have been considering the same, my 997.1 2S rear badge is rather naff and while personally I am not a fan of the 911 script I do like:

P O R S C H E

I don't want to over modernise but......

this thread is something i am considering and even thinking of doing it in gold! as my car is black with black wheels and gold badges on wheels centres etc

A complete de-badge or replacement with a 911 might have been options but the P O R S C H E badging wasn't available from the factory when the 997 was in production.

Many don't like the 991 style P O R S C H E but if you want to be different I actually prefer it to the naked look or the 911.

I agree with the simple P O R S C H E i think it would look good... Looks good on the 991...

Rich , MY 4S Badged with just PORSCHE in OE 991 black letters. you cant use the 991 template to fit them so a bit of tape follow the slight curve the gaps are basically one letter so quite easy to do just use the last E as the spacer
For comparrison see also a pic of it debadged which I didnt like.

and first pic is my gen1 with PORSCHE word and 911 and a turbo S badge

hopefully those pics will help :thumb:

I debadged the car, and planned to add the OE 9-1-1 in black (which I still have somewhere), but then I found a 30cm P O R S C H E sticker in white for the red stripe. It makes me happy.

Max raises a good point is it a gen1 or gen2 4S as the gen1 doesnt have the red stripe across the back and the gen2 does which may athsetically dictate what is best for you to do. :thumb:

If interested, I have a 991 chrome P O R S C H E badge laying around collecting dust if anyone interested.

this is subjective as there is no right or wrong answer to your question in terms of whats right. Im not pleased with the badge on the back of my car, but putting on the 911 seems like its missing something and the 991 badge doesn't sit right either. Debadging doesn't work for me on this car either, so I chose to leave as is until a better idea comes up.
What ever you choose doesn't need to be for ever either so you can chop and change at will

Hmmm now not so sure as it is Gen 2 ......may just leave it stock as it is a drastic step to take and not like it! I know it can be rectified but even so ......

The badging per the gen2 'black edition' looks very neat...

I wouldn't say it's drastic. It's no issue at all to stick new badges back on.... :dont know:

Drastic as in expensive for new badging..... not prohibitively so but a costly mistake ;)
