Delivery miles on a Porsche

Hi guys

Could not see any history on this. I can getting a 718 GTS and was wondering what I should expect on the clock when I go into the dealership to collect in march.

Thanks
Krish

I would say up to 20 miles is normal.

I recently picked up a new BMW (factory order for me) which had 12 miles on and my brother picked up a factory order Porsche last year which had 15 miles on.

nb in the good old days of mechanical odometers they used to start at a minus. There was a famous case a few years ago of x2 barn find M3 Evo's with < 0 miles on the clock due to this.

The Golf Clubsport S I bought last January had 15 miles on it - I have a vague recollection of the dealer saying delivery mileage can be up to 100 miles.

I would expect lower on a "specialist" car such as the Porsche though, and I'd grumble if it were more than 40 miles or so.

There'll probably be something buried in the T&C's somewhere. If it's something you specifically value then you need to highlight it as such so it's worth asking the question of the dealer (a gentle order progress enquiry email perhaps). Then, when they present you with your new, 350 mile, 718 GTS you would be in a good position to expect some goodwill!

Usually pretty low, but that said - the last time that I was in an OPC I was chatting with someone who (quite reasonably) had an issue with their brand new Macan having over 100 miles on the clock. The reason given wasn't overly absurd in that apparently they randomly pull a small number of cars off the line for extra rolling road checks (I think the dealer said it was a recent thing for emissions but not positive). However, should that happen to you then it is probably worth chucking a couple of toys out of the pram and try beating them up for a free service or some merchandise before accepting it :?:

20 miles is about the average and has been since i started in 2004 .

The occasional one will have about 50 miles and that indeed is because of extra testing for quality purposes .

We do have the tools to reset it to zero if less than 150 miles but its never done .... that would feel like cheating in my book .

100 miles would be extreme though .. i dont remember seeing one that high and ive seen a couple over the years :D

As said .. it might be a new thing and probably on deisels .

Thanks guys, I will expect under 20 and also fire an email to the sales lady now itself saying I am expecting about that. Reason been she emailed me saying you will be having one of first and due to its spec there will be slot of interest in it. She asked me if it's ok to be taking photos, I replied no problem as long it's not been driven.

Cheers
Krish

Car has arrived, just got sent a video and 12 miles on the clock.
Sadly, I have to wait till march to pick it up for 18 plate.
They are going to keep it outside for the 4 weeks

C'mon then, show us all !!!

That's a great colour. Congrats that looks a treat.

-wow, great colour/spec. Really like that. 👍🏼😎

..but puzzled where all the factory applied 'transit' protection was though?

Yes every Porsche I've had still had the transport tape on body/wheels and is only taken off at the OPC.

It does seem strange, was it used for a photo shoot somewhere before delivery?

I believe all Porsche cars in this dealership arrive at a specific one and from there they are shipped out to the other branches in herts and bucks. Same group
Krish

30 miles on my new Cayenne i collected a couple of weeks ago.
