Embarassed My Turbo has two tone grey which I don't mind. Also I don't mind grey interior on darker blue and black cars! Smile

I was only looking for manual as they seemed to be less affected by engine issues?

Mrs prefers that I buy an auto so she can drive it occasionally, not sure thats a good thing.

I am hoping to view it this weekend.

Elan - I don't know that individual car but I do know the dealer. I bought my C4S from them and they were really good; there are quite a few on here that have bought from Portiacraft - they have a good name in the industry.

That car looks lovely... Thumb

The Portiacraft car looks great. Best colour combo for a 996 and sensible miles from an established dealer. Thumb

Re the other car. Minerva Blue is rare and looks lovely. This makes the grey interior less of an issue.

Manual v Tip is obviously the bigger decision.

Enjoy the viewing(s). Thumb

If I was after a 4S I would be talking to this guy, and booking hopefully a one way flight to Scotland... nice looking well maintained manual car with full Hartech rebuild.

Thanks for the advice guys. The black one in Scotland sounds great, especially with the rebuild. I was really hoping to avoid black cars though Embarassed, for a change.

Buying from a decent trader suites me so that I can px the C4. Porticacraft is an hour away, so will view that first. Tempted to keep them all Question

Should I be worried that fair few C4S have had an engine rebuild?

2002 Porsche 996 Carrera 4S

PostPosted: Fri Mar 16, 2018 10:38 pm    Post subject: Reply with quote

The 04 onward MY 911s inc 4Ss suddenly got given two year service intervals. It would not surprise me if that contributed to engine issues.

No reason why a 4S 3.6 would be any more or less likely to have a problem than any other 996 of the era. Arguably with turbo spec radiator cooling, they should run a bit cooler but no evidence to support my theory. I certainly wouldn't let it put me off...

Morning

Hi elan

I got my c4s from portiacraft about 8/9 months ago found them easy to do business with & the car came with a fresh service mot & warranty. Seems to me that the dealers have raised the price on the c4s over the last month or so as this is priced at 26k. the car its self look very nice & im happy with mine. Let us know how you get on after looking at the c4s.

Thanks for your feedback guys.

PDCC4S, your experience with Portiacraft is reassuring.

I went to see the grey car with Portiacraft and it was in decent condition. The front bumper had a few stone chips but seems like a genuine car. It hasn't had any major work like IMS upgrade or any suspension work. It comes with a warranty, so piece of mind for the first year. Is it still best to get a PPI done for bore scoring and IMS?

This one also looks good: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201803214775890?

That minerva blue car is stunning , the grey interior is no big deal as a retrimmer could break that up a bit and body coloured centre console would really lift the interior .
I have to say thats where my money would be going insteard of a black or grey car Thumb Thumb

Shame about the box on that. Very nice colour, I'd need the wheels doing silver myself however.

I haven't seen a minerva coloured car in the flesh before, looks stunning in photos. The interior doesn't bother me so much and as mentioned can be updated. Its more the tiptronic box. Maybe I should try one first.

4s in cobalt is always the winner for me. Looking back my slate grey one was really nicely specced and should not have sold it. Sad

I've driven manual and tip 6's back to back and I can tell you the difference is night and day.

if I was commuting in traffic I'd consider once but for an occasional drivers car I'd swerve it. Unless of course you're not that bothered about the drive and want to enjoy the looks of the thing.

The Minerva coloured C4S has now appeared on eBay. It looks like it’s had a new engine Question

Black is a nice colour, especially the shine after a good clean! I just fancy a different colour for a change.

I went to see the grey one at Portiacraft but it was just sold Rolling Eyes. On the bright side they offered a surprisingly decent value for my C4.

Few more contenders now, any views?

This is my favourite.

Great spec car with Litronics, PSE, heated seats. Look for cigarette/smoke damage as the ciggy lighter looks like its had some use.

Not a fan of the ruffled leather in the blue one, though it has a new clutch.
