I find this very hard to believe. Surprised

Car washed, ready to leave as soon as I have served the last guests breakfast.

Well, that was a very enjoyable day (although I don't get out much, nowadays.)

Good to see face new and old, and have a play on the track.

My word there were some loonies on there, not what I would call an experienced track day crowd.

But home safe and in one piece. I had forgotten how good Donington is as a circuit.

Next year maybe we should look at having a dedicated session, like the Lotus boys did. I'm sure we could muster (is it?) 20.

Thanks to all that helped organise, I know Terry was delighted to be able to play with a walkie talky. 😄👍

And thanks to Sundeep for showing me some lines around the circuit. I hope he won't be insulted by me saying I prefer ones that stay on the black stuff. 😄

Maybe we could have a concourse trophy next year. I saw some folk polishing their cars like it was a PCGB event. 😄

And finally thanks for the top man for supplying glorious sunshine (i am not sure if that was Sundeep or an even higher authority.)

Thanks to Sundeep, Terry and everyone else who put their time and effort into organising today.

It was nice to finally meet some of the forum members.

The idea of a session for 911uk members next year sounds like a good one to me. The Lotus boys looked good out there on their own.

Really enjoyable day.

Great day out at Dony today, was all a bit last minute for me but wouldn't have missed this event. Great to meet up with everyone.

The track manners were a little ropey but it was that type of event and I wouldn't have expected different. In my frustration I had a slower car on the corners but slightly faster on the straights and I made a move on the Dunlop straight that I couldn't make into the corner, my first ever track day spin. My onboard video stops 7 minutes in so I missed the spin out PC

Going back to the 911uk only session, we can have a slot to ourselves but when we tried to confirm numbers in 2017 there wasn't enough to fill the full allocation so we just went with what slots were available. If we can commit numbers for next year we will be able to get a full session to ourselves.

In the briefing room I turned to see Sundeep lining up again,

Don’t worry mate. I caught it all on my video camera. I’ll edit the clip and send you the file when I get the chance to sort it.

What a great weekend. Thanks to all for making it so. thumbsup

There were 28 cars in our area, including the Carmine Red 991 and Viper Green Cayman that were invited to join us on the day, and they all looked beautiful in the Midland sunshine.

I must have been to too many Dinslaken shows as I'm starting to develop a real liking for cars that have 'graphically enhanced'. I've no idea how good (or more likely bad) the Rothmans liveried 997 drives but I could happily own it just to look at it all day. I bet Phil' would like the wing.

NB: Other 'colours' were available. Very Happy

Just seen this months 911 Porsche World has full feature on the 997. I watched the build of that as only 5 mins up road from me. They do exceptional paintwork, the guys are really friendly and always happy to talk cars. It sounds awesome but doubt it would pass any track limits Floor

Yes I have to echo what others have said, it was really great to meet up again, every time we have a get to together you put names to faces and make new friends, bit corny but true!
My only thoughts were that it was a bit to 'Cars & Car Conversions' this year as opposed to last year, last year had a large selection of McLarens (The P1), Astons (The Vulcan), loads of Pork and other exotics to look at. This year it was mostly souped up Jap Cars, I know Jap fest was on the day before but it didn't have the buzz of last year.
The track session was very interesting, I've just started running a Megabusa on track days so was keen to see the differences in running a big heavy Turbo and they showed pretty quickly, I'd fried my brakes by the second lap, my tyres were getting a bit over heated as well so I had to calm it down a bit before I ended up in the kitty litter! I did manage to get round the whole session without getting embarrassed by that mad man in the Toyota Starlet, I ended up chatting to him for a while afterwards and he really knew his stuff and that car was so well prepared, 300+ hp, track day tyres, 750 kg and had to be the ultimate track day toy.
I've got a dash cam vid which I'll put up on You Tube later.
Thanks to all the 911uk guys for organising a great day.

It's not the first time Infrasilver has been found to be going backwards. I reckon he was trying out one of his usual karting manoeuvres.

Thanks satch, I think? And Peters, pot and kettle spring to mind.

I have a week before the supercar event next Sunday and I will hope to get all the livery off beforehand. Terry and Graham you are too kind with your comments.

All the Supercars I drove in with were pushed to one side this year so I missed them apart from seeing driving in and heading out on track.

Thanks all for another memorable day in the sun.

Nice triangle parking for our area.

Thanks to Guy for the car clean !

Track standards were awful, cars just stuck to the left hand side of the road who would just floor it on the straight Dont know

It did present a very different track day challenge trying to get past cars with double the horsepower, certainly made it interesting although very frustrating when stuck behind them.

then ending the day with our show interview on the main stage with an audience of a dozen Very Happy

A few snaps from Twitter on the day https://twitter.com/Porsche911UK/status/1013301448900272128

Thanks for putting it all together guys , really enjoyed the whole day , being let loose on a unfamiliar track was a little daunting but great fun , some of the other drivers were impatient to say the least , i thought the guy heading the briefing said there was no overtaking on the corners, i spent most of the time looking in my mirror.
Group session next year sounds like a plan .... thanks again all Thumb

good to see you Keith, and your Northern posse. Don't forget to pump your tyres back up. I was going to ring you and remind you, but I was worried you might be doing the ironing and I would have a nasty injury on my conscience. 😄

Just put my 7 or 8 laps up on You Tube, there's nothing really startling as I managed to get out in front of all the other cars and then only had a few civic's to pass, if you've got 15 mins to spare it'll pass slowly!
Best lap was lap 4 at 1:33:8, by then my brake pedal was getting a bit 'long'!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3SDUNRL134&t=88s

By the way if you want a really good and free lap timing App download 'Ultrachron Lite' it's the best I've found so far Thumb

Sorry I had to shoot off early yesterday but good to meet a few more members.
I agree with others, the rest of the show was a bit "max power" and as a relative track day novice I wouldn't have fancied it much.
Would be up for a 911uk only track session though....

Thanks to sundeep & co for organising.

Great to meet you all yesterday, some cracking cars, fantastic weather and some very weird lines through Redgate!! As a newbie I was made to feel very welcome and thanks to 911UK/T8 and others for organising and agree if it was a 911UK track session it would be very tempting next year. A couple of pics from the day....
